Purpose of Role:
Technical sales role & part of the sales team, helping organizations obtain better brand recognition and financial growth. Coordinate with company executives and local sales & marketing professionals to explore and develop high-value proposition business solutions in Malaysia. May support SEA region if required.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for driving strategic sales initiative in Malaysia.
- Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
- Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations; strong ownership and positive attitude on business development.
- Promote and sell John Crane products in accordance with company policy, pricing guidelines and regulations.
- Pursue new market expansion opportunities in high-value proposition solution businesses, such as CCUS projects, reliability & asset management contracts, turbo machinery upgrade/retrofit services and monitoring solutions.
- Work with account sales to explore leads and develop opportunities.
- Support the account by connecting related resources for making and presenting proposals.
- Closely follow related opportunities and move the project forward.
- Apply good technical background and strategic thinking when promoting solutions and initiatives.
- Develop a growth strategy focused on both financial gain and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs.
- Arrange business meetings with prospective clients.
- Promote the company’s products/services addressing or predicting clients’ objectives.
- Prepare contract materials ensuring adherence to law‑established rules and guidelines.
- Keep records of sales, revenue, invoices, etc.
- Provide trustworthy feedback and after‑sales support.
- Build long‑term relationships with clients and manage key accounts.
- Travel to meet clients with the sales team, covering whole Malaysia and overseas as requested.
- Be ad‑hoc, flexible to face any contingency plan, and able to take assigned organized activities.
- Work with local sales staff to drive growth promoting strategic products and services; act as a technical sales partner working with account sales to explore leads and develop opportunities.
- Support country/Sales team to achieve country/individual budgets.
- Develop go‑to‑market strategies in line with John Crane Y‑tree initiatives.
- Utilize technical background to thoroughly understand John Crane’s product portfolio and solutions, including features, benefits, applications, and how they address challenges in various industries.
- Conduct in‑depth market research to identify potential customers and industries where John Crane’s solutions can provide significant value; analyze competitors’ offerings and market trends to position John Crane effectively.
- Leverage technical knowledge to engage with customers on a deeper level, understand pain points and requirements, and demonstrate how John Crane’s solutions can address specific needs; offer technical insights and recommendations.
- Support new product selling and turbo opportunities development, such as DGS & turbo system upgrading and retrofitting.
- Support account sales to deliver business results in high‑value proposition products, contract and solution selling.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
Technical Skills:
- Sound knowledge of pumps & mechanical seals in oil & gas or petrochemical industry.
- Knowledge of API standards.
- Field experience in installation, commissioning & maintenance of rotating equipment and vibration.
- Asset management, project management.
People Skills:
- Self‑driven & result‑oriented.

- Market knowledge and industry connection.
- Communication and negotiation skill.
- Commercial acumen for business success.
