A public listed company is seeking a Senior QS Executive to join our Project Engineering team on a full-time basis in Puchong, Selangor. As a Senior QS Executive, you will play a crucial role in managing quantity surveying functions, cost estimation, and project financial oversight. This position is integral to ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for providing expert guidance on project costs, valuations, and commercial matters whilst supporting our project delivery objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Preparing and managing detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for engineering and IT projects
- Conducting quantity take-offs and material assessments to support accurate project costing and resource planning
- Monitoring project expenditure and providing regular cost reports to project managers and senior stakeholders
- Preparing tender documents, bills of quantities, and specification schedules for procurement activities
- Negotiating contracts with suppliers and vendors whilst ensuring value for money and compliance with company standards
- Conducting valuations and variations management throughout the project lifecycle
- Providing commercial and financial advice to project teams on cost-related matters and risk mitigation strategies
- Liaising with contractors, clients, and internal teams to resolve commercial and contractual issues
- Maintaining accurate project records, documentation, and cost databases for future reference and analysis
- Supporting junior QS staff and mentoring team members on best practices and professional standards
What we're looking for
- Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (e.g., RICS, AIQS, or equivalent recognised certification)
- Minimum 5-7 years of post-qualification experience in quantity surveying or cost management within engineering or construction projects
- Strong expertise in cost estimation, project budgeting, and financial management
- Proficiency in using QS software and tools (e.g., CostOS, Bluebeam, or similar estimating software)
- Advanced knowledge of construction contracts, procurement regulations, and commercial terms
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities with the capability to present financial information to diverse stakeholders
- Proven experience in managing variations, claims, and contractual disputes
- Ability to work independently and lead smaller teams or mentoring initiatives
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
- Knowledge of Malaysian construction standards, regulations, and industry practices is highly desirable
