We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Planner/Engineer to lead the planning, scheduling, and project-control functions for major infrastructure projects (Rail/Metro/LRT/MRT/Road or Highway). The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing baseline schedules, executing critical path analysis, monitoring progress, managing resource loading, and driving proactive delay-mitigation strategies using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
Develop and maintain comprehensive Master Implementation Programmes, Detailed Baseline Programmes, and integrated sub-schedules across all lifecycle phases: Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning (EPCITC).
Establish structured Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Organizational Breakdown Structures (OBS) aligned with contractual requirements and project delivery strategies.
Define activity sequencing, logic relationships, lead/lag constraints, interface milestones, and key deliverables across multi-disciplinary teams.
Conduct detailed Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis, total float monitoring, and schedule variance tracking against the approved baseline.
Coordinate, collect, and verify progress data (actual start/finish dates, physical percentage complete, remaining duration) from engineering, procurement, and site construction teams.
Develop and issue project control artifacts, including Look-Ahead Schedules, Progress S-Curves, Resource Histograms, progress dashboards, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Prepare timely Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Progress Reports for internal management and client submission.
Load, analyze, and optimize manpower, equipment, and cost data within Primavera P6.
Execute resource allocation, resource leveling, and productivity estimation to prevent bottlenecks and ensure smooth site execution.
Utilize Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to evaluate schedule performance indices (SPI) and forecast project completion timelines.
Develop Time-Location Charts (Line of Balance / March Chart) using advanced MS Excel formulas and conditional formatting; experience with TILOS software is highly advantageous.
Identify schedule risks, critical activity paths, interface conflicts, and resource constraints early to provide actionable recommendations to project leadership.
Perform schedule impact assessments and build Mitigation, Acceleration, and Recovery Programmes to address site delays and optimize execution sequences.
Perform regular site inspections to audit physical progress, evaluate site productivity, and validate reported data.
Facilitate progress meetings and present schedule updates, risk profiles, and critical path activities to key internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain rigorous documentation and governance for all planning, scheduling, and project-control records.
Support the Planning Manager and Project Director on ad-hoc project controls and reporting duties.
Education: Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited university.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of overall working experience in project controls/planning, with a minimum of 4-6 years dedicated to planning civil infrastructure projects (Data Centre/Rails/Building/Commercial.)
Technical Software Expertise:
Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (complex formulas, macros/VBA, conditional formatting, dynamic dashboards). Experience with TILOS is a strong advantage.
Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) or PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) certification is highly desirable.
Languages: Excellent command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Soft Skills & Mobility:
Strong leadership, analytical thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Willingness to travel to project sites or relocate as required.
