Job summary

Intermarine UK is seeking a Senior Project Engineer (Newbuild Project Lead) in Johor, Malaysia, to steer offshore vessel newbuilds from early construction to delivery. You will coordinate across disciplines, manage schedules, and liaise with shipyards, owners, vendors, and inspectors to ensure alignment with contractual specs.

The role requires 10–15 years in shipbuilding or marine projects, strong project management, and knowledge of IMO and class rules.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of experience in shipbuilding, marine engineering, or offshore vessel newbuild projects.
• End-to-end involvement in at least one complete vessel newbuild project ( keel-laying to delivery).
• Strong knowledge of shipbuilding planning, construction schedules, and vessel commissioning.
• Familiarity with IMO regulations, class rules, and statutory requirements.
• Experience coordinating shipyards, surveyors, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead offshore vessel newbuild projects from contract award through vessel delivery.
• Develop and monitor project schedules, milestones, and construction progress.
• Coordinate engineering activities across mechanical, piping, electrical, and other disciplines.
• Liaise with shipyards, classification societies, owners, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Monitor compliance with project specifications, IMO regulations, classification society rules, and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate class approval, inspection, commissioning, harbour tests, sea trials, and handover activities.
• Identify risks and schedule delays, implementing corrective actions.
• Monitor vendor/subcontractor performance and delivery schedules.
• Prepare progress reports and technical documentation for management and clients.
