Qualifications

About the job Marine Systems Engineer (MOPU) Johor Bahru, MY
  • Oversee the shipbuilding process and carry out field and marine systems engineering to transform a self-elevating drilling rig into a mobile offshore production unit (MOPU).
  • In charge of organising and carrying out inspections and evaluations of the state of the rig's maritime systems (such as the air, LO, fire, and SW and FW cooling systems, as well as the bilge and ballast systems and fire and safety systems), as well as organising any necessary modifications.
  • Create engineering plans for the conversion, including P&IDs, material and equipment specifications, and related deliverables.
  • In charge of identifying technological problems and promptly delivering engineering solutions.
  • In charge of overseeing all shipbuilding operations, including those involving the construction, installation, commissioning, and testing of marine systems.
  • Organise communication between the shipyard, the applicable Classification Society, and the client's vendors and contractors.
  • In charge of the relevant rig's marine system quality, and willing to personally participate in and accept tests and inspections as needed.
  • It is your responsibility to inform the customer and the Longitude PM on a frequent basis about the status, timeline, problems, and strategies.
  • In charge of making sure the conversion project is carried out successfully, adhering to technical specifications, client expectations, and class/regulatory standards, and completing the project in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner.
  • To effectively carry out these duties, one needs strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of ten years' experience, preferably in an offshore setting, designing and modernising marine systems, including mechanical, fire, plumbing, and safety systems.
  • A minimum of two years' experience supervising shipyards
  • Previous direct experience interacting with surveyors and the engineering/plan review offices of Classification Societies
  • Past experience working as a client representative
