Job summary

Vantris Energy Berhad seeks an experienced Senior Field Engineer to lead and manage Transportation & Installation (T&I) engineering and offshore execution activities for offshore construction projects in Malaysia.

The role includes planning installation methodologies, coordinating deliverables, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring safety, quality and schedule adherence across offshore campaigns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering or equivalent.
• Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).

Responsibilities

• Lead installation procedures, lifting plans, drawings, and offshore construction documentation.
• Plan and coordinate transportation, loadout, and offshore installation activities for structures and pipelines.
• Perform engineering verifications, installation calculations, rigging assessments, and constructability reviews.
• Develop barge layouts, loadout plans, and installation strategies for offshore execution.
• Lead offshore execution activities and act as the technical focal point during campaigns.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure deliverables are accurate, compliant, and on schedule.
• Support tendering by reviewing technical requirements and developing installation methodologies.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Field Engineer to lead and manage Transportation & Installation (T&I) engineering and offshore execution activities for offshore construction projects. The role is responsible for planning installation methodologies, coordinating engineering deliverables, managing offshore campaigns, and providing technical leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and successful project execution.

The successful candidate will work closely with Project Teams, Construction Managers, Vessel Management Teams, Clients, and offshore personnel to support transportation, loadout, installation, and marine operations activities.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Installation Engineering

• Lead the development and review of installation procedures, method statements, lifting plans, engineering drawings, and offshore construction documentation.
• Plan and coordinate transportation, loadout, and offshore installation activities for structures and pipelines.
• Perform engineering verifications, installation calculations, rigging assessments, and constructability reviews.
• Develop barge layouts, loadout arrangements, and installation strategies to optimise offshore execution.

Offshore Project Execution

• Lead offshore execution activities and act as the technical focal point during installation campaigns.
• Support offshore construction teams by resolving technical issues and providing timely engineering decisions.
• Coordinate project briefings and ensure offshore personnel fully understand project requirements, procedures, safety expectations, and quality requirements.
• Monitor offshore progress and support schedule management to achieve project objectives.

Project Coordination & Stakeholder Management

• Coordinate engineering interfaces with Project Management, Procurement, Fabrication, and Construction teams.
• Support tendering and bidding activities by reviewing technical requirements and developing installation methodologies.
• Participate in client reviews, risk assessments, constructability reviews, and project meetings.
• Identify and manage contract variations arising during project execution.

Technical Leadership

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and field engineering personnel.
• Ensure engineering deliverables are technically accurate, compliant, and delivered according to schedule.
• Promote continuous improvement and engineering excellence throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support the development of field engineering capabilities within the organisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in: Civil/Mechanical/Chemical/Petroleum/Marine Engineering or equivalent discipline.
• Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).

Experience

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Field Engineer.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a Lead Field Engineer capacity.
• Hands-on experience in Transportation & Installation (T&I) projects.
• Experience supporting offshore construction, loadout, installation, marine operations, or EPCIC projects.
