Job summary

Pintas Consulting Group Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks a Patent Engineer to bridge technical innovation and IP protection. You will evaluate, document, and protect innovative technologies for clients, ensuring IP assets are secured and maximised.

You will conduct landscape analyses, draft patent applications, and work with inventors to translate ideas into patentable inventions while supporting prosecution and risk assessment. This role is based in Petaling Jaya with a focus on growth and innovation.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or strong Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biochemistry, Physics, Law, or equivalent.
Strong technical knowledge and interest in learning new technologies.
Experience in patent drafting, prosecution, or IP management is a plus.
Familiarity with patent search tools and databases (USPTO, Google Patents, Espacenet) is desirable.
Proficiency in technical writing and producing high-quality documentation.
Problem-solving with proactive IP opportunities identification.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive prior art searches and patent landscape analyses.
Prepare and draft patent applications with detailed specifications, claims and documentation.
Collaborate with inventors and internal teams to translate innovations into patentable inventions.
Respond to office actions and support prosecution of applications.
Review patent specifications to identify infringement risks and FTO concerns for clients.
Collaborate with legal counsel and external patent attorneys on patent matters.
