Job summary

Businesslist is seeking an experienced Merchant Operations professional in Kuala Lumpur to lead onboarding and implementation across payment platforms. You will coordinate with merchants, wallet providers, acquirers, and internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding and go-live, while supporting ongoing payment operations and merchant lifecycle management.

The role requires 3–5 years in merchant/fintech operations, with strong stakeholder management and bilingual communication.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, technology, commerce, payments or related fields.
• 3–5 years experience in Merchant Acquiring, Merchant Operations, Payment Operations or fintech.
• Experience with merchant onboarding, implementation or payment acceptance operations.
• Understanding of merchant acquiring flows, settlements and payment ecosystems.
• Exposure to wallets, payment gateways, QR payments, POS terminals or acquiring environments is advantageous.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to coordinate multiple activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead merchant onboarding and implementation activities across payment platforms and solutions.
• Coordinate with merchants, wallet partners, acquirers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth onboarding and go-live.
• Support merchant acquiring operations, payment acceptance activities, and merchant lifecycle management.
• Manage merchant setup, account maintenance, configurations and onboarding documentation.
• Coordinate payment terminal deployment, operational support, and troubleshooting.
• Investigate transaction, settlement, and payment-related issues.
• Work with Product, Technology, Finance, Compliance and Commercial teams to resolve issues.
• Participate in solutioning discussions, product demos and merchant implementation meetings.
• Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve merchant experience and efficiency.
• Support process improvement initiatives across onboarding, operations and partner management.

The Successful Applicant

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Technology, Commerce, Payments, or related disciplines
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience within Merchant Acquiring, Merchant Operations, Payment Operations, Digital Payments, Fintech Operations, Merchant Support, or related functions
• Experience supporting merchant onboarding, implementation, or payment acceptance operations
• Understanding of merchant acquiring flows, settlement processes, payment routing, or payment ecosystem operations
• Exposure to digital wallets, payment gateways, QR payments, POS terminals, or acquiring environments would be highly advantageous
• Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills
• Ability to manage multiple implementation and onboarding activities concurrently
• Strong communication skills in both English and Mandarin
