Job summary

Motorola Solutions in Malaysia (Penang) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to drive product development from concept to mass production. You will design concepts, create 3D CAD models, and generate 2D drawings while ensuring compliance with design, process, and safety guidelines.

You will perform tolerance analysis, manage BOMs, support prototypes, and verify mechanical specs. Familiarity with Creo Parametric and plastics tooling adds value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of material properties (sheet metal and plastic).
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Able to communicate and present concepts to technical audiences.
• Familiar with assembly processes such as SMT, plastic ultrasonic welding, resistance welding, etc.
• Knowledge of battery, power supply and charger design is a plus.
• Knowledge of Creo Parametric 3D software and plastic tooling constructions is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in product development from concept to mass production.
• Prepare new product concepts meeting customer requirements and safety guidelines.
• Use 3D modeling and surfacing CAD to design new products.
• Create 2D drawings per drafting standards.
• Perform mechanical tolerance analysis and DFMEA.
• Set up and maintain bill of materials.
• Support prototype/pilot builds.
• Perform mechanical verification tests and write test reports.
• Release mechanical prints and parts qualification reports.
• Compile information for user manuals or instruction sheets.
