Job summary

PMX Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (Data Center) to oversee the mechanical system design for data centre construction projects. You will ensure high-quality, energy-efficient solutions and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet client requirements.

The role requires hands-on leadership from concept through detailed design, with a focus on maintainability, safety compliance, and sustainability. On-site work will be needed as projects demand.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design in construction.
• Experience in data centre, MEP, industrial or mission-critical projects is preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and CFD analysis tools.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water systems, CRAC units, and fire suppression systems.
• Excellent coordination, communication, problem solving and leadership skills to manage project teams and stakeholders.
• Willingness to work on-site when required.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the mechanical system design aspects of data centre construction projects.
• Manage mechanical design activities from concept to detailed design for reliable and energy-efficient systems.
• Develop detailed designs for mechanical systems per project and client requirements.
• Review drawings, equipment selections, specifications, and submissions for compliance.
• Ensure all designed systems meet technical standards and local regulations, safety and performance.
• Conduct value engineering to improve performance and cost efficiency.
• Ensure maintainability, accessibility, and operational reliability of systems.
• Promote energy efficiency and sustainability; stay updated with best practices in MEP engineering.
• Perform system calculations and simulations to verify efficiency.
