Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a senior payroll leader to oversee day-to-day payroll operations in Malaysia. You will manage processing, allowances, and employee records while ensuring compliance with local and overseas regulations.

The role includes leading a payroll team of 10+ staff, driving efficiency, and coordinating with HR, Finance, and external auditors. You will handle year-end activities, data integrity, and audit readiness, generating reports for management and statutory filings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, business or related field.
• 7–8 years of experience in payroll or related area.
• Experience leading a team of 10+ staff.
• Detail-oriented with strong numerical aptitude.
• Experience handling payroll for large volumes (1000+ employees).

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day payroll operations including processing, allowances and records.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements both local and overseas payroll.
• Manage year-end activities (EA, E forms, tax audits, etc.).
• Lead, mentor and develop the payroll team.
• Set performance expectations and conduct regular reviews.
• Resolve complex payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
• Optimize payroll processes for efficiency and automation.
• Generate payroll reports for management and audits.
• Maintain data integrity and security; liaise with external providers and auditors.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance and Legal on payroll matters.
• Ensure internal controls and oversee payroll audits and improvement plans.

Responsibility

• Oversee day-to-day payroll operations, including but not limited to payroll processing, allowances, and employee record management.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory requirement, local and overseas payroll, including tax filing and reporting.
• Manage year-end payroll activities, including generate EA, E form, Tax audit etc.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the payroll team, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Define role, set performance expectation, and conduct regular review.
• Resolve complex payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
• Optimize payroll process for efficiency, accuracy, and automation.
• Generate payroll reports for management, audits, and financial report.
• Ensure data integrity and security in payroll records. Liaise with external payroll providers, tax agencies and auditors.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, Legal and other department on payroll-related matters.
• Ensure internal controls and compliance for payroll operations.
• Lead internal and external payroll audits, addressing findings and recommend for improvement plan.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or above in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other relevant discipline.
• Minimum 7-8 years working experience in Payroll or relevant.
• Able to monitor a team of more than 10 staff.
• Detail oriented, with quick numerical and mathematical mind
• Experience in handling payroll of more than 1000 employee size/volume.
