THG plc in Malaysia seeks a senior executive to coordinate mining and business development projects, conduct pre-development studies, manage stakeholder relationships, and monitor strategic initiatives for timely execution directed by the GMD.
The role represents the GMD in meetings and engagements, ensuring clear communication and follow-through across the Group's operations and strategic programs while maintaining discretion and integrity.
The role is responsible for coordinating mining and business development projects, conducting pre-development studies for new investments, managing stakeholder relationships, monitoring strategic initiatives, and ensuring the timely execution of assignments directed by the GMD.
The incumbent will act as the GMD's representative in selected meetings, projects, and business engagements, ensuring effective communication and follow-through across the Group's operations and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
A. Strategic Projects and Business Development
Conduct preliminary assessments and research for potential investments, acquisitions, joint ventures, and new business opportunities.
Lead and coordinate pre-development activities for new projects, including market research, feasibility studies, due diligence, business analysis, risk assessment, and investment evaluation.
Prepare business proposals, investment papers, project reports, and presentations for management review.
Evaluate project viability and provide recommendations to the GMD.
B. Project Coordination and Implementation
Coordinate the planning and execution of strategic projects assigned by the GMD.
Monitor project progress, timelines, budgets, deliverables, and key milestones.
Follow up with internal departments and external parties to ensure projects are progressing according to schedule.
Identify project risks, operational challenges, and implementation issues, and propose corrective actions.
Prepare periodic project status reports for management review.
C. Mining and Operational Support
Assist the GMD in monitoring mining, quarry, processing plant, and related operational activities.
Review operational performance data and prepare management reports.
Coordinate with site management teams to monitor operational performance, equipment utilization, maintenance activities, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
Assist in the implementation of operational improvement initiatives.
Conduct site visits and inspections as required by the GMD.
D. Stakeholder and Government Liaison
Coordinate and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders, including authorities, consultants, contractors, business partners, investors, and regulatory bodies, to support the Group's business and project objective.
Attend meetings on behalf of the GMD when required and prepare meeting reports.
Maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
E. Executive and Administrative Support
Assist the GMD in managing strategic priorities and business initiatives.
Prepare reports, correspondence, presentations, briefing papers, and management documents.
Coordinate and track action items arising from management meetings.
Ensure timely implementation of decisions made by the GMD.
Handle confidential and sensitive information with the highest level of discretion.
F. Corporate Planning and Governance
Support corporate planning and annual business planning exercises.
Assist in developing strategic plans and performance monitoring frameworks.
Ensure proper documentation and record management for projects and strategic initiatives.
Participate in internal reviews and process improvement initiatives.
G. Other Responsibilities
Undertake any special assignments, projects, or investigations as directed by the GMD.
Travel to project sites, government offices, business meetings, and external engagements as required.
Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by management from time to time.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mining, Geology, Business Administration, Finance, Project Management, or a related field.
A Master's Degree (MBA) will be an added advantage.
Work Experience
Minimum 8-12 years of relevant working experience.
At least 5 years in a managerial or project management role.
Experience in mining, quarrying, mineral processing, heavy industries, manufacturing, construction, infrastructure, or related sectors.
Preferred
Experience in feasibility studies and project development.
Experience dealing with government agencies and regulatory authorities.
Experience managing consultants and contractors.
Experience preparing business cases and investment proposals.
