Job summary

Job description

The Senior Legal Counsel is responsible for the legal aspects of commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, dispute resolution, administrative matters and other legal transactions.

This role serves as an advisor to the management of Bumi Armada on corporate governance, strategic, commercial and regulatory direction from a legal perspective and works to ensure that the company’s interest is protected, with a particular focus on supporting the company's supply chain and project teams.

Key Accountabilities:

Legal Matters:

• Draft, negotiate and review contracts in multiple jurisdictions, with a particular focus on supporting the company's supply chain and project teams.
• Monitor new laws, rules and regulations affecting the company.
• Advise on legal risks and mitigations.
• Manage external advisers and legal disputes.

Others:

• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

Education Qualifications / Professional Certifications:

• Degree in law; Admitted Malaysian bar or admitted / called to the Bar in other relevant jurisdiction.

Experience:

• 10+ years' post qualification experience (private practice and/or in-house).
• Familiar with the principles of English law.
• Experience in providing legal advice and support to procurement/supply chain and project functions
• Experience in corporate & commercial work
• Current knowledge of oil/gas/maritime industry trends and regulatory changes desirable
• Excellent written English and oral communication skills.
• Strong team player with ability to work effectively with people at all levels.
• Strong skills in managing legal services in complex high-profile situations with multiple stakeholders.
• Proactive and commercial/solution-orientated approach.
