Job summary

Zohorecruit is seeking a highly experienced civil litigator based in Kuala Lumpur or Penang. The role requires handling hearings, trials and appellate matters, with a strong emphasis on independence and professional client service.

The ideal candidate holds an LLB and is admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor, with excellent English and Bahasa Malaysia communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years PQE in civil litigation.
• Able to independently manage hearings, trials and other litigation.
• Appellate court experience is a plus.
• Admitted as Advocate & Solicitor, qualified to practise law.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and prepare legal documents, pleadings and court submissions.
• Represent clients in court proceedings including case management, mediation, hearings and trials.
• Provide legal advice and attend client meetings to discuss strategy and progress.
• Handle additional assignments as delegated by the firm.

Job Description

• Draft, review, and prepare legal documents, pleadings, submissions, and other court-related documentation.
  
• Represent clients in court proceedings, including case management, mediation, hearings, trials, and other litigation matters.
  
• Provide legal advice and attend meetings with clients to discuss case strategies and progress.
  
• Handle additional legal assignments and responsibilities as delegated by the firm.
  
• Position available in Kuala Lumpur or Penang.
  

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) in civil litigation.
  
• Proven ability to independently manage hearings, trials, and other litigation proceedings.
  
• Experience handling appellate court matters will be considered an added advantage.
  
• Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) and admission as an Advocate & Solicitor, qualified to practise law.
  
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
  
• Detail-oriented, well-organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.
