Job summary

Tan Chong Group in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to support corporate and commercial matters, with a strong focus on drafting and contract review.

The role requires an LLB (Hons) and Malaysian Bar admission, a minimum of 6 years' experience, and knowledge of PDPA and Companies Act. Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is essential; Chinese language is an added advantage.

Qualifications

• LLB (Hons) and called to the Malaysian Bar.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with compliance requirements such as PDPA, Companies Act, etc.
• Competent in commercial and/or corporate legal practice.
• Strong drafting, interpersonal and communication skills.
• High integrity and confidentiality; proficient in MS Office.

Job description

• Drafting and reviewing of documents and contracts
• Working closely with and maintaining good rapport with all levels of management
• Maintaining communication and liaising with internal stakeholders and external lawyers on all legal matters including but not limited to litigation, conveyancing, corporate, contract, intellectual property related matters.
• More specifically to focus on compliance requirements such as Personal Data Protection Act, Companies Act, etc.
• Generally assisting in attending to and solving legal issues that may arise from time to time.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have at least a LLB (Hons) from a reputable university and called to the Malaysian Bar
• Candidate must have a minimum of 6 years of working experience in the related field
• Knowledge and experience in compliance requirements such as Personal Data Protection Act, Companies Act, etc
• Fairly competent in areas of legal practice in commercial and/or corporate
• Good interpersonal, communication and drafting skills and willingness to take on new assignments
• High level of integrity and confidentiality
• High computer proficiency and good command in Microsoft Office applications
• Proficient in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia; command of Chinese language (written and / or spoken) is an added advantage
