Job summary

Guocera Sdn Bhd is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform chemical analysis by XRF, including sample preparation for ceramic materials submitted by internal and external customers.

The role requires tests such as specific gravity, LOI, and fired coefficient of expansion; assist ISO 17025 audits, maintain 5S in the lab, and keep equipment in good working condition.

Qualifications

• Experience with XRF spectroscopy and ceramic material testing.
• Ability to work in a laboratory environment and maintain 5S practices.
• Willingness to participate in ISO 17025 audits and lab housekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical analysis by XRF and prepare samples.
• Conduct tests like specific gravity, LOI, and fired coefficient of expansion.
• Support ISO 17025 audits and ensure safety in the lab.
• Maintain cleanliness and keep laboratory equipment in good condition.
• Engage in 5S activities and Kaizen for continuous improvement.

Job description

Responsible in carrying out the chemical analysis by XRF, including sample preparation for various materials submitted by both internal and external customers.

Carry out tests such as specific gravity, LOI and fired coefficient of expansion.

To assist for testing and pass in ISO 17025 Audit.

To maintain good housekeeping and cleanliness in the laboratory.

To maintain laboratory equipment in good working condition.

To actively involved in 5S activities and continuous contribution on Kaizen.

Follow safety procedures to ensure safe working environment.

Managerial:

To co-operate and work as a team member with all levels of staff

Organisational:

Involved in 5S activities in CRC

Technical & General Skills Requirements

Good knowledge of ceramic materials and ceramic technology.

Knowledge of ceramic raw material testing and analysis.

Familiar with X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy.

Proactive and able to take initiative.

Cooperative and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Good discipline and responsible working attitude.

Professional / Technical Qualification(s)

Minimum SPM qualification, preferably with a Diploma in Engineering or a related field.

Minimum 15 years of relevant working experience in the ceramic industry; extensive experience is preferred.

Relevant training or hands-on experience in X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy is an added advantage.
