Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking an experienced Senior System Administrator to manage Windows Server, Linux systems, and enterprise services in a 100% onsite role in Malaysia.

You will administer AD, DNS, DHCP, and virtualization (Hyper-V/VMware), deploy clusters, and handle patching, backups, and disaster recovery. The role includes cloud integration tasks (AWS, Azure), incident response, and comprehensive SOP documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience managing Windows Server OS (2016+), Linux servers, and enterprise systems.
• Proven experience as a Windows System Administrator or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments and virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware).
• Solid understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and scripting languages (PowerShell).
• Proficient in using backup solutions, AD management tools, system monitoring tools, and patch management systems.
• Working knowledge of SAN storage solutions, specifically NetApp or EMC.

Key Responsibilities

JOB DESCRIPTION

System & Server Administration

• Deploy, configure, and maintain server operating systems and enterprise applications (Windows Server, Linux).
• Monitor system performance, conduct root cause analysis, and resolve issues proactively.
• Administer Microsoft Active Directory, and other enterprise services.
• Create and manage home directories and group policies using PowerShell scripting.
• Monitor and manage patch deployment through professional patch management tool.
• Manage disaster recovery procedures.
• Deploy and configure Windows and SQL Server clusters.
• Administer and maintain NetApp SAN storage and SAN switches.

Virtualization & Cloud

• Install, configure, and manage Hyper-V and VMware virtual environments.
• Support virtual clustering and perform troubleshooting in virtualized systems.
• Assist in the integration and administration of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).

Security & Network

• Ensure system integrity through security best practices and routine monitoring.
• Maintain knowledge of network systems including LAN/WAN and intrusion detection systems.
• Responsible for infrastructure planning and incident resolution

Support & Documentation

• Provide incident support and respond to escalated helpdesk tickets.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Coordinate support with external service providers as needed.
• Provide support for ISO, SOX, and customer audits, including documentation and evidence preparation.

Project Work & Collaboration

• Lead and support enterprise-level technology initiatives.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate server upgrades and system improvements.
• Participate in departmental meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Willing to travel to remote sites or other regions as needed for on-site system support.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
