Job summary

Konan Design Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to lead interior design projects from concept to delivery. The role is on-site in Shah Alam, Selangor, requiring a strong portfolio and leadership in design development and client presentations.

You will collaborate with architects, contractors and vendors, manage budgets and timelines, mentor junior designers, and stay current with design trends and sustainable practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of professional interior design experience.
• Formal qualification in Interior Design, Architecture or related discipline.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and BIM tools.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualise and develop interior design schemes for residential, commercial and hospitality spaces.

About the role

Konan Design Sdn Bhd is seeking a talented Senior Interior Designer to join our dynamic design team in Shah Alam, Selangor. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to lead interior design projects and contribute to the creative vision of our clients. As a Senior Interior Designer, you will play a crucial role in conceptualising, developing and delivering high-quality interior design solutions that transform spaces and exceed client expectations. This position is based on-site in Shah Alam, Selangor, where you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to bring innovative design concepts to life.

Key responsibilities

• Conceptualise and develop comprehensive interior design schemes for diverse project types, including residential, commercial and hospitality spaces
• Conduct detailed site analysis and client consultations to understand project requirements, constraints and objectives
• Create detailed design proposals, including mood boards, floor plans, 3D visualisations and specification documents
• Manage project budgets and timelines, ensuring designs are delivered within financial and scheduling parameters
• Collaborate with architects, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and design integrity
• Prepare presentation materials and present design concepts to clients, incorporating feedback and making necessary revisions
• Oversee project implementation, conducting site visits and quality inspections to ensure designs are realised to specification
• Mentor and support junior designers, providing guidance on design principles, industry best practices and professional development
• Stay current with design trends, materials and technologies, continuously enhancing the firm's design capabilities
• Liaise with suppliers and vendors to source appropriate materials, furnishings and finishes that align with design concepts and budget constraints

What we’re looking for

• Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in interior design, with a portfolio demonstrating a range of completed projects
• Formal qualification in Interior Design, Architecture or related discipline from a recognised institution
• Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and BIM tools
• Strong understanding of design principles, spatial planning, colour theory, materials and building codes
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders
• Demonstrated project management capabilities, including budget control and timeline adherence
• Experience in mentoring and leading junior design staff
• Knowledge of sustainable design practices and environmental considerations in interior design
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team whilst maintaining independent design judgment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality design solutions
• Flexibility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing client requirements
