Job summary

KCJ ENGINEERING SDN. BHD. seeks an Inspector of Works to supervise construction and inspection activities, ensuring compliance with drawings, specs and project requirements.

You will review method statements, monitor quality, identify defects and coordinate with engineers, contractors and consultants. Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor construction, engineering and maintenance works to ensure compliance with drawings, specs and project requirements.
• Lead and coordinate site inspection activities and ensure inspections follow approved procedures.
• Monitor workmanship, materials and installation quality by contractors and subcontractors.
• Review Inspection Requests, method statements and material submissions.
• Identify defects and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Coordinate with project team to resolve technical and site issues.
• Witness testing, commissioning and rectification per project requirements.
• Attend site meetings and provide progress updates and inspection findings.

Job description

Supervise and monitor construction, engineering and maintenance works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.

Lead and coordinate site inspection activities and ensure all works are inspected according to the approved inspection procedures.

Monitor the quality of workmanship, materials and installation works carried out by contractors and subcontractors.

Review and verify Inspection Requests (IR), method statements, material submissions, test results and other relevant technical documents.

Identify defects, non-conformities and technical issues at site and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.

Monitor contractors’ work progress and ensure activities are carried out according to the approved project schedule.

Coordinate with Project Managers, Resident Engineers, Engineers, consultants, contractors and subcontractors to resolve technical and site-related issues.

Witness and monitor testing, commissioning, inspection and rectification works to ensure compliance with project requirements.

Conduct regular site inspections and provide technical input on workmanship, materials and construction methods.

Review site records, progress reports, inspection reports and quality documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Monitor outstanding defects and ensure rectification works are completed within the required timeframe.

Attend site meetings and provide updates on work progress, quality issues, inspection findings and corrective actions.

Assist the Project Manager / Resident Engineer in monitoring overall project quality, progress and compliance.

Guide and support junior IOWs or site inspection personnel in carrying out their duties effectively.

Perform other duties related to site supervision and inspection as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

Diploma / Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Inspector of Works (IOW), Site Supervision or a related position.

Senior-level experience in construction, engineering, building, infrastructure or maintenance projects is preferred.

Strong knowledge of construction methods, site inspection, quality control and project specifications.

Able to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, method statements and project documents.

Good knowledge of inspection, testing, commissioning and quality documentation procedures.

Able to identify technical issues, defects and non-conformities and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.

Strong communication, coordination, leadership and problem-solving skills.

Able to manage site inspection activities and coordinate effectively with contractors, consultants and project teams.

Detail-oriented, responsible and able to work under pressure to meet project requirements and deadlines.

Able to work independently and provide guidance to junior site inspection personnel.

Willing to work at project sites and travel when required.

Relevant IOW certification or professional qualification is an advantage.
