Job summary

China State Construction & Engineering Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking an Inspector of Works (Mechanical & Electrical) to supervise daily M&E works on site in Malaysia. You will ensure activities align with drawings, specs, and method statements, and assist senior engineers in supervision and quality control.

The role requires a diploma or degree in an engineering field, 1–3 years of relevant experience, and registration with BEM as an Inspector of Works.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Building Services Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience as Inspector of Works, Site Supervisor or Clerk of Works preferred.
• Knowledge of M&E systems including HVAC, fire protection, plumbing & sanitary, electrical distribution and ELV systems.
• Understanding of construction drawings, specifications and site coordination processes.
• Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a site team.
• Registered with the Board of Engineers (BEM) as an Inspector of Works.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and inspect daily Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) works on site.
• Ensure construction activities follow approved drawings, specs, and method statements.
• Assist Resident Engineer and Consultant Engineers in site supervision and quality control.
• Inspect and verify M&E installation works on site.
• Ensure M&E quality control tests are conducted timely and meet specifications.
• Inspect workmanship and materials to ensure project requirements.
• Witness and verify tests such as insulation resistance, FAT, pipeline and duct tests, lighting tests and other M&E testing/commissioning activities.

Inspector of Work (IOW) Mechanical & Electrical

1. Supervise and inspect daily Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) works carried out on site.

2. Ensure all construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and method statements.

3. Assist the Resident Engineer (RE) and Consultant Engineers in site supervision and quality control activities.

4. Inspect and verify M&E installation works carried out on site.

5. Ensure M&E quality control tests are conducted in a timely manner and that test results comply with the required specifications.

6. Inspect workmanship quality and materials before and during construction to ensure compliance with project requirements.

7. Witness and verify various tests, including insulation resistance tests, equipment factory acceptance tests (FAT), pipeline pressure tests, air and ball tests for piping systems, duct leakage tests, illumination level tests, and other relevant M&E testing and commissioning activities.

Job Requirements:

1. Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineeering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Management or related field.

2. Minimun 1-3 years of relevant working experience as Inspector of Works (IOW), Site Supervisor, Clerk of Works or in M&E construction projects is preferred.

3. Knowledge of M&E systems including HVAC, fire protection, plumbing & sanitary, electrical distribution and ELV systems.

4. Understanding of construction drawings, specifications and site coordination processes.

5. Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.

6. Able to work independently and as part of a site team.

7.Registered with the Board of Engineers (BEM) as an Inspector of Works
