Job summary

KCJ ENGINEERING SDN. BHD., based in Malaysia, seeks an Assistant Resident Engineer to supervise on-site construction activities and monitor progress, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and contracts.

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction, site supervision or engineering projects.
• Experience as Assistant Resident Engineer or Site Engineer is an advantage.
• Knowledge of construction works, site supervision and quality control.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Strong skills in site inspection, problem-solving and project coordination.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising and monitoring construction works and project activities on site.
• Ensure works follow approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and contracts.
• Conduct site inspections to verify workmanship and materials meet standards.
• Monitor progress and ensure activities align with the project schedule.
• Review technical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Assist in resolving technical issues at site with Resident Engineer.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants and engineers.
• Monitor inspections, testing, rectification and commissioning per project requirements.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, quality requirements and regulations.
• Prepare progress reports, inspection reports and site records.
• Assist in addressing defects or non-conformities.
• Participate in site meetings, project coordination and technical matters.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Resident Engineer or Management.

Job description

Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising and monitoring construction works and project activities at site.

Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and contractual requirements.

Conduct site inspections to ensure the quality of workmanship and materials comply with the required standards and specifications.

Monitor the contractor’s work progress and ensure activities are carried out according to the project schedule.

Review technical drawings, specifications, method statements, shop drawings and other relevant project documents.

Assist the Resident Engineer in resolving technical issues and problems arising at site.

Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, engineers and relevant parties to ensure smooth project execution.

Monitor inspection, testing, rectification and commissioning works in accordance with project requirements.

Ensure site activities comply with applicable safety procedures, quality requirements and relevant statutory regulations.

Prepare progress reports, inspection reports, site records and other relevant project documentation.

Assist in monitoring and ensuring that defects or non-conformities identified on site are rectified by the contractor.

Assist the Resident Engineer in site meetings, project coordination and technical matters.

Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Resident Engineer or Management.

Job Requirements

Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field.

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction, site supervision or engineering projects.

Experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer, Site Engineer or in a similar position will be an added advantage.

Good knowledge of construction works, site supervision and quality control.

Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications and contract documents.

Strong skills in site inspection, problem-solving and project coordination.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.
