Job summary

GEOQUEST SOLUTIONS MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. is seeking an experienced accounting professional to manage the full set of accounts, treasury, tax compliance, and financial reporting for projects.

The role covers AP/GL/Inventory/Fixed Assets, journal entries, reconciliations, and budgeting support. You will coordinate annual audits, liaise with tax agents and regulators, and ensure statutory compliance while maintaining robust controls and timely month-end close.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
• Experience in construction, engineering, project-based, or contracting industries will be an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian accounting standards, SST, withholding tax, and statutory compliance.
• Hands-on experience in full set accounts and financial reporting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with Oracle/SAP and QNE is an advantage).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Able to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Handle full set of accounts and ensure timely month-end and year-end closing.
• Maintain AP, GL, Fixed Assets, Inventory, and Bank records.
• Process journal entries, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, provisions, and FX adjustments.
• Monitor staff claims and reimbursement processes.
• Perform bank, stock, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Review vendor invoices, reconcile supplier statements, and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate annual statutory audits and prepare audit schedules.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, company secretaries, and regulatory authorities.
• Maintain withholding tax records and ensure SST and tax compliance.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, project P&L, and cash flow forecasts.
• Support management with financial analysis and decision-making information.
• Support and maintain accounting systems (Oracle/SAP and QNE).
• Monitor contract renewals and identify process improvements.

Job description

This role involves managing the full set of accounts, including maintaining accurate records for accounts payable, bank, inventory, and fixed assets. The position encompasses treasury functions, inventory management, audit coordination, tax compliance, and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

Accounting

Handle full set of accounts and ensure timely month-end and year-end closing.

Maintain Accounts Payable (AP), General Ledger (GL), Fixed Assets, Inventory, and Bank records.

Process journal entries, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, provisions, and foreign exchange adjustments.

Monitor staff claims and reimbursement processes.

Perform bank, stock, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Review vendor invoices, reconcile supplier statements, and resolve discrepancies.

Treasury

Ensure timely payment to suppliers and service providers.

Manage payment processing and maintain payment records.

Handle bank reconciliations, bank guarantees, and letters of credit.

Communicate payment status to vendors and stakeholders.

Audit & Compliance

Coordinate annual statutory audits and prepare audit schedules.

Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, company secretaries, and regulatory authorities.

Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records.

Taxation

Maintain withholding tax records and ensure timely submissions and payments.

Ensure compliance with SST, income tax, withholding tax, transfer pricing and other statutory requirements.

Liaise with tax consultants on tax planning, tax estimates, and tax filings.

Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.

Prepare project profit and loss reports and project tracking reports.

Perform budget versus actual variance analysis.

Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts and financial projections.

Prepare AR aging, AP aging, inventory aging, and intercompany reporting.

Support management with financial analysis and decision‑making information.

Ad-Hoc Duties

Support and maintain accounting systems such as Oracle/SAP and QNE.

Monitor contract and agreement renewals.

Continuously identify process improvement and operational efficiency opportunities.

Maintain proper accounting records and filing systems.
