Stratus Automation Sdn Bhd is seeking a skilled Failure Analysis Engineer to lead investigations of customer complaints and field failures, determine root causes, and coordinate cross-functional teams across R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Software. The role requires strong diagnostic capabilities and hands-on testing of PCBA, modules, and system interfaces.
You will drive evidence-based RCA using test data, logs, and historical trends, and contribute to knowledge bases to prevent recurrence
Stratus Automation Sdn Bhd (a wholly owned subsidiary of Stratus Global Holdings Berhad) is a prominent player in designing and supplying cost-effective cleanroom hybrid Automated Material Handling Systems (AMHS) and Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems (ASRS).
Stratus Automation has been dedicated to delivering cutting-edge automation solutions that drive efficiency and innovation in the industry. We provide a complete turnkey AMHS mainly for semiconductor fabs, solar cells, medical industries as well as OEM suppliers for many world- class semiconductor automation system integrators.

What You Will Do:
Lead investigations of customer complaints, field failures, and returned products to assess impact, urgency, scope, and potential product or customer risk.
Define and lead failure reproduction strategies, diagnostic test methods, procedures, and conditions based on reported symptoms and operating environments.
Determine whether failures are repeatable, intermittent, or condition-dependent, and establish the evidence needed to isolate the failure mechanism.
Lead functional, electrical, environmental, firmware/software, and system-level diagnostic testing to isolate faults across PCBA, module, and system interfaces.
Lead cross-functional investigations with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Software/Firmware, Application Engineering, and Test Engineering to establish root causes and agree corrective actions.
* Lead evidence-based RCA using test data, logs, measurements, failure signatures, historical trends, and structured problem-solving methods to identify failure mechanisms and contributing factors.
Own and coordinate complex customer complaint and failure investigation activities, including:
a. Product and design-related failures
b. Test equipment and instrumentation
c. Failure reproduction and diagnostic test setups
d. Failure analysis documentation and records retention
e. Other technical concerns related to customer complaints and product failures
Ensure failure analysis evidence, hypotheses, test results, RCA conclusions, corrective actions, and technical records are complete, reviewed, and traceable.
Define diagnostic capability and resource requirements, and recommend the procurement of equipment, instruments, fixtures, and tools needed for advanced failure investigation.
Coordinate investigation priorities, timelines, technical risks, and closure actions with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Software/Firmware, Application Engineering, and Test Engineering.
Present clear technical conclusions, risk assessments, and recommendations to stakeholders, and drive corrective and preventive actions through verification and closure.
Prepare and review comprehensive failure analysis reports documenting symptoms, reproduction conditions, evidence, root cause, containment, corrective actions, and verification results.
Establish and improve failure analysis methods, diagnostic standards, knowledge bases, and investigation metrics to improve response time, recurrence prevention, and product quality.
Prioritize C3 and other critical investigations based on customer impact, severity, recurrence, and product risk; communicate investigation status and escalation needs.
Review RCA conclusions and corrective-action plans to ensure they are supported by objective evidence and address root causes rather than symptoms.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and technicians in failure reproduction, diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and structured RCA.
Maintain a failure knowledge base and identify recurring trends to support design improvement, risk reduction, and prevention of repeat customer complaints.
What You Will Bring (RequiredQualifications):
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in failure analysis, product/system test, quality engineering, troubleshooting, or related engineering fields, including ownership of complex investigations. Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Draftsight or other CAD software.
Positive attitude and strong growth mindset.
Proven experience investigating complex hardware and system-level issues, particularly customer-returned units, field failures, and recurring product complaints. Willing to travel both locally and internationally.
Ability to correlate test data, logs, measurements, failure signatures, and historical trends to develop and validate evidence-based root cause hypotheses.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional investigations and influence technical decisions across R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Software/Firmware, Application, and Test teams.
Ability to isolate failures across mechanical, electrical, electronic, software/firmware, communication, and system interfaces.
