Job summary

The Failure Analysis Technician role at ADVANCED ENERGY INDUSTRIES (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. supports the Failure Analysis Engineering function by monitoring field quality data for accuracy, understanding historical failure modes, and identifying new field issues.

You will document failures and drive corrective actions in a lab and manufacturing environment in Penang, Malaysia. This position requires knowledge of electronics, PCBs, SAP/Office tools, and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Proficient knowledge and troubleshooting in electrical circuits, components and PCB manufacturing.
• Experience with SAP, SAP BW, Office applications and database management.
• Clear verbal and written communication to convey findings.
• Minimum 2+ years in a semiconductor environment with FA exposure.
• Experience as FA, Assembly Backend or Test Technician is preferred.
• Product knowledge enabling effective failure analysis.
• Capable of analyzing complex electromechanical assemblies.
• Fresh graduates with Diploma/Degree in Electrical/Electronic fields and strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensures integrity of failure data including conditions, symptoms, and failure modes.
• Reviews RMA data for consistent, complete failure coding.
• Identifies trends in failures and provides quantitative analysis.
• Documents the most probable root cause(s) of failures.
• Drives corrective action for simple failures.
• Prepares complete failure analysis reports for internal and external customers.
• Adheres to quality, health and safety, ethics, legal stipulations and 5S/duty of care.
• Maintains confidentiality of information related to production and technologies.
• Travel to international locations may be required.

Job description

The Failure Analysis Technician supports the Failure Analysis Engineering function by monitoring field quality data for accuracy and consistency, understanding historical failure modes, and identifying new field issues. Failure Analysis Technicians track and archive Failure Analysis reporting to build a knowledge database of issues and resolutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures integrity of failure data including conditions, symptoms, and failure modes. Reviews RMA data for consistent, complete failure coding.

Identifies trends in failures and provides quantitative analysis of such trends.

Identifies and documents the most probable Root Cause(s) of failures.

Drives Corrective Action for simple failures.

Prepares complete, concise Failure Analysis reports for internal and external customer communications.

Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies and general duty of care.

Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the production processes and components, business and other technology including materials.

Other duties as assigned.

Failure Analysis Technicians regularly work in development and test labs, and manufacturing facilities.

Travel to international locations may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficient knowledge and troubleshooting skills in electronic circuits, components, PCBs, and manufacturing processes.

SAP, SAP Business Warehouse, Microsoft Office applications, and general database management.

Requires effective verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey factual learnings.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimumthree (2) years' experience working in a semiconductor company.

Experience as FA technician, Assembly Backend Technician and Test Technician.

Specific product knowledge which enables effective failure analysis.

Demonstrated Failure Analysis of complex, elector-mechanical assemblies.

Also open to Fresh Graduates with a Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Electronic, Electrical, or related fields) who have strong analytical skills and interest in Failure Analysis.

EDUCATION:

Technical school or Diploma in electrical engineering or a related field, or equivalent education.

Associates degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

Certified 6-sigma or equivalent statistical, problem-solving methodology.
