Job summary

Sunway Group in Bandar Sunway, Selangor, Malaysia is seeking an experienced Finance Accountant to support core accounting functions, including closing, reconciliations, payments, intercompany billings, and reporting. The role ensures accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with group policies and MFRS.

The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and 3–7 years of relevant experience, preferably with an audit background, and must be able to work in Bandar Sunway.

Responsibilities

• Maintain full set of accounts in line with accounting standards and policies.
• Execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing incl. journal entries, accruals and adjustments.
• Perform monthly banks and partners reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Process payments and collections per procedures and internal controls.
• Prepare financial reports, schedules and analyses including variance analysis for management.
• Coordinate with Finance Shared Service Centre and Group Finance for timely reporting.
• Support internal and external audits with schedules and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, MFRS and internal controls.

Job description

To support and execute core finance functions, including financial closing, reconciliations, payment processing, intercompany billings, and reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with group policies and accounting standards.

Job Duties:

• Maintain full set of accounts in accordance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
• Execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Perform monthly banks & partners reconciliation, ensuring timely investigation and resolution of discrepancies.
• Process payments and collections in compliance with established procedures and internal controls.
• Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting analysis, including variance analysis for management review.
• Coordinate with Finance Shared Service Centre and Group Finance to ensure timely and accurate reporting deliverables.
• Support internal and external audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules and relevant documentation.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, MFRS, and internal control frameworks.
• Any other ad hoc task as assigned from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• 3 - 7 years of relevant working experience, preferably with an audit background.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and applicable financial reporting standards (MFRS).
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Familiarity with the fintech or financial services industry would be an added advantage.
• Willing to work in Bandar Sunway.
