Job description

The Finance Manager / Asst. Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports. Key responsibilities include preparing and presenting monthly financial reporting, conducting variance analysis against budget and forecast, treasury management, ensuring timely submission of tax returns and support both internal and external annual audit processes.

This role plays a critical part in supporting strategic decision-making through the delivery of insightful financial and management reporting, ensuring statutory and tax compliance and providing leadership within the finance function. The successful candidate will also be instrumental in driving the transition to an advanced accounting system and enhancing finance workflows and processes.

Working closely with Head of Finance, the Finance Manager/Asst. Finance Manager will help safeguard the company’s finance by maintaining strong governance practices, effective internal controls and compliance with relevant regulatory requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and deliver monthly financial and management reports within stipulated timeline, including financial performance analysis and presentation to management.
• Lead the month end and year end closing process ensuring accurate financial records, balance sheet reconciliation and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
• Perform budget, forecast and variance analysis to support strategic decision making and monitor financial performance.
• Manage taxation matters including corporate tax and deferred tax provisions, tax return submissions, transfer pricing documentations and liaison with external tax agents and regulatory authorities.
• Prepare and submit statutory and regulatory reports to BNM, CCM, Group and AFS in a timely manner.
• Cashflow and treasury management including banking matters, funding requirements and preparation of cashflow forecasts.
• Support internal and external audits by coordinating audit requirements, maintaining proper documentation and ensuring compliance and governance standards.
• Drive process improvement and financial transformation initiatives including implementation of accounting projects, workflow enhancement etc.
• Assist in the preparation of Board papers and presentation materials for Board/EC/AFS meetings.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Accurate and timely submission of management, financial, statutory and regulatory reports in accordance with reporting deadlines and business requirements.
• Full compliance with Bank Negara Malaysia regulations, IRB requirements, MFRS, IFRS and Group’s policies and procedures
• Ensure integrity, accuracy and completeness of financial records
• Ensure finance department operates efficiently and effectively, supporting business objectives and regulatory requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in Accounting, Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CA) or equivalent are preferred
• Minimum 5 to 10 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Sound knowledge of MFRSs, IFRSs, taxation and other relevant regulatory requirements
• Proficiency in SAP or other ERP accounting systems is advantageous
• Prior experience in external audit is preferred
• Highly detail-oriented, analytical and meticulous with strong sense of integrity, accountability and professionalism.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the Group.
