Job summary

B. Braun Group in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking an Engineer/Sr. Engineer - Equipment to lead maintenance on highly automated assembly equipment. You will drive uptime, performance and reliability while developing preventive programs and leading improvements across the plant.

The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, strong automation knowledge, and the ability to train technicians. Local on-site work with occasional after-hours support is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years supporting highly automated assembly equipment, preferably in medical devices.
• Proven experience leading a maintenance/equipment technician team.
• Hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance of automated equipment.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, sensors, motors, drives and vision systems.
• Experience with pneumatic systems (Festo/SMC).
• Experience with 8D problem-solving, root cause analysis, and technical reporting.
• Experience training and developing technician teams.
• Exposure to industrial robotics (Mitsubishi, Yamaha, Stäubli) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of technicians for preventive and corrective maintenance, and equipment troubleshooting.
• Serve as the equipment owner for highly automated assembly/manufacturing equipment to ensure uptime.
• Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and automation equipment.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs, manage spare parts, and drive improvements.
• Conduct root cause analyses using 8D and implement corrective actions.
• Support customer complaint investigations and prepare technical reports.
• Develop and deliver technical training to enhance technician competency.
• Lead equipment upgrade, obsolescence, and replacement projects.
• Provide technical support for automation systems and on-call assistance when needed.
