Job summary

B. Braun Medical Industries in Penang is seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance Engineer to lead a team of technicians and ensure high uptime for highly automated assembly equipment.

You will troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and automation issues and drive preventive maintenance programs. The role requires hands-on expertise with PLCs, sensors, motors, drives, vision systems and pneumatic systems, plus experience in root cause analysis and technical training delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience with highly automated assembly equipment, preferably medical devices.
• Proven experience leading a team of maintenance technicians.
• Hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance of automated manufacturing equipment.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, sensors, motors, drives, vision systems, and industrial automation.
• Experience with pneumatic systems; familiarity with Festo/SMC components.
• Experience with 8D problem solving and root-cause analysis.
• Experience developing technical training and competency programs.
• Experience with equipment obsolescence, upgrade, or migration projects is a plus.
• Exposure to industrial robotics (Mitsubishi, Yamaha, Staubli) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of technicians for preventive and corrective maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Own highly automated assembly and manufacturing equipment; ensure uptime.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and automation issues.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance and spare parts management programs.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions using structured methods.
• Support customer complaint investigations and prepare technical reports.
• Develop and deliver technical training to enhance technician competency.
• Lead equipment upgrade, obsolescence, and migration projects.
• Provide technical support for automation systems and on-call assistance when needed.
• Adhere to supervisor directions; participate in additional responsibilities as assigned.
