Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an Application Engineer in Malaysia to provide technical support for integrated security solutions, including design, costing, and proposal development. You will work with Sales, Engineering, and Operations to translate customer needs into end-to-end security designs using CCure, Lenel, Genetec, and Milestone platforms.

You should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, at least 5 years of relevant experience, familiarity with networking, and the ability to travel

• Bachelor's degree in Process & Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in security systems design and pre-sales.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for security system design, costing, and proposals.
• Develop design proposals, system layouts, and ensure compliance with project specs.
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering and Operations to align solutions and delivery.
• Prepare technical submissions, drawings and high-level design docs.
• Perform cost estimation and generate Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
• Present technical capabilities to customers and travel for site visits when needed.

What you will do:

The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical support, primarily in customer proposals, system design, and solution development for integrated security systems. This includes understanding customer requirements and translating them into end-to-end security solutions (Access Control, CCTV, Perimeter Intrusion Detection) with clear costing, timelines, and resource planning.

The role will also involve engagement with customers alongside the business development team to present technical capabilities, solution architecture, and project approach.

How you will do it:

• Provide technical support by responding to customer requirements with detailed analysis of security system design, including system architecture, hardware selection, and integration approach
• Develop design proposals, system layouts, and compliance with project specifications to meet customer needs
• Work closely with Sales, Engineering, and Operations teams to align solutions, costing, and delivery feasibility
• Prepare technical submissions, drawings, and proposals, including system schematics and high-level design documentation
• Perform cost estimation based on drawings, specifications, and site requirements
• Generate Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and ensure accuracy for proposal submissions
• Provide technical presentations to customers on proposed solutions
• Work collaboratively across functions to ensure solution standardisation and best practices
• Knowledge of Johnson Controls security solutions will be an advantage

What we look for:

• Bachelor's Degree in Process & Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering with minimum 5 year relevant working experience
• Strong knowledge in security systems (e.g. CCure, Lenel, Genetec, Milestone, etc.)
• Experience in system integration and security solution design for commercial, industrial, or critical infrastructure projects
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals, servers, and system architecture
• Basic programming / configuration experience (e.g. access control logic, system integration, or API-based platforms) is an advantage
• Experience in pre-sales, proposal, or application engineering role preferred
• Willing to travel for site visits and customer engagement across Malaysia
