Asta Chemicals Sdn. Bhd. in Perai is seeking a Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to formulate maintenance procedures to minimize downtime and optimize electrical and instrumentation systems.

The role involves developing preventive maintenance and calibration plans, reviewing spare parts usage, leading plant projects, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. A Bachelor's in Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronics with 2–3 years in chemical manufacturing is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics) with 2–3 years in chemical manufacturing.
• Diploma holder with extensive electrical/instrumentation maintenance experience encouraged to apply.
• Proficiency with SAP, ISO9001:2008, 5S.desirable.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and review preventive maintenance plans for electrical and instrumentation equipment.
• Develop calibration plans for plant equipment and instruments and implement timely changes.
• Monitor spare parts consumption and reduce maintenance cost where possible.
• Lead new projects or modifications within the plant as project manager.
• Ensure safety, health and environmental compliance by subordinates and contractors.

Job description

Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer | Perai

To formulate effective maintenance procedures to minimize production down time caused by breakdown of equipment and instruments.

Formulate and constantly review preventive maintenance plan for all electrical and instrumentation equipment effectively and efficiently.

Developing calibration plan for plant equipment and instruments effectively.

Conduct constant review on calibration plan and effect necessary changes for improvement.

Execute calibration plan in timely and cost effective manner.

Analyze spare parts consumption and maintenance cost and initiate effective actions to reduce consumption and maintenance cost.

Conduct constant review on spare parts necessary adjustment to improve inventory level of spare parts.

Initiate necessary modification and improvement to enhance equipment and instrument efficiency.

Conduct studies and carry out analysis to ensure capacity of electrical installations meet the needs of Company’s consumption.

Initiate immediate actions to recommend for electrical and instrument improvement and upgrading when and where necessary.

Conduct routine check to ensure operation efficiency of generator sets at time of needs.

Monitor to ensure continuous adequate and stable electricity supply to plants.

Monitor closely to ensure power factor does not exceed the allowed level.

Provide effective support and assistance to maximize benefits from off peak rate.

Providing energy conservation education and drive for effective implementation of necessary actions and measures.

Monitor to ensure operation of utility supply facilities comply with provision of relevant laws, by-laws, rules and regulations.

To act as a project manager for any new projects or modifications to be carried out in the plant.

To advise and guide maintenance supervisor in the implementation of effective maintenance programs.

To assist Engineering Manager in the feasibility study of projects aimed at improving the overall plant performance.

To prepare monthly reports, capital expenditures and evaluate service providers.

Provide proper guidance to subordinates to troubleshoot and overcome equipment and instrument problems speedily and effectively.

Monitor closely to ensure safety, health and environmental rulings and procedures are adequately complied by all subordinates, contractors and/or their workers.

Initiate studies on conversion of obsolete parts to suitable alternatives as necessary.

Develop and upgrade skills and knowledge of subordinates.

Involve actively in cost savings or improvement projects.

Participate in or provide necessary support for all related company activities.

Job Requirements:-

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics, or equivalent) with minimum 2-3 years working experience in chemical manufacturing environment. Diploma holder with extensive experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance is also encouraged to apply.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office PC applications, SAP, ISO9001:2008, 5S experiences desirable.

Bilingual in English & Malay a must with ability to conduct meetings and communicate effectively to all levels

Possess strong leadership and communication skills, pro-active, independent thinking and strong organizational and planning abilities, excellent analytical and problem solving is essential..

Familiar with operation & troubleshooting of Distribution Control System (DCS) and PLC.

Possess Charge man certificate will be an added advantage.

Able to work beyond normal working hours when necessary.
