Job summary

IOI OLEOCHEMICAL INDUSTRIES BERHAD (29994-D) in Penang is recruiting for an Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor. You will manage the workshop, monitor HT/LT power systems, and coordinate maintenance and calibration activities across ISO standards.

Responsibilities include supervising shifts, coordinating contractors, ensuring safety compliance, and liaising with external bodies to maintain continuous plant operations. Strong SAP/PLC knowledge and independent work capability are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a chemical process factory is essential.
• Capable of supervising shift officers, technicians and external contractors.
• Familiar with SAP, PLC systems and instrumentation.
• Good computer knowledge and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical & instrument workshop activities and maintenance.
• Ensure HT/LT power supply operations and prompt repairs.
• Coordinate calibration for ISO standards and ensure safety procedures.
• Liaise with external bodies and other departments for plant operations.

Job description

Responsible to Electrical and Instrument Workshop and all Electrical, Instrumentation and Control System installations and operations, responding to emergency breakdown and scheduling of preventive maintenance of all electrical and instrument installations and ensuring that job are carried out and completed within the schedule time.

Responsible for the Electrical and Instrument workshop activities and maintenance work.

Responsible for the efficient operation of HT (including 11 kV) and LT (415V and below) power supply within the plant and the prompt repair of all electrical plant and systems (e.g. repair of all switch gears, transformer, electric motors, compressor, air compressor, chiller, boiler, etc) as well as plant instrumentation’s prompt repair/troubleshooting for all transmitters/sensors and DCS/PLC control system.

Fully in charge of the other workers engaged in these activities (namely Shift Officer; Technician or external contractors), allocates work, monitors performance and reports to the Project & Maintenance Manager or Senior Plant Manager on E&I issues as well as disciplinary issues.

Ensures compliance with electrical legal regulations requirement, rules and licensee and to report any deficiency to the Project & Maintenance Manager or Senior Plant Manager and also ensures that prescribed safety procedures are observed by the relevant section.

Coordinate instrument calibration required for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, MS 1480, FSMA, EFICI, GMP+FSA & ISO 50001.

Responsible in checking; testing and commissioning all electrical installations.

Responding to all emergency call back.

Responsible and liaise with external body e.g. Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), electrical consultant and contractors.

Works closely with Mechanical and Utilities Dept, Production Operation Department, Purchasing Dept, Store Dept, QA Dept, SHE Dept etc.

To undertake such other duties as instructed by Superior from time to time.

Fully in charge of the company electricity energy saving program.

To carry out daily activities in line with SAP and quality systems e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, MS 1840, ISO 50001, FSMA, EFfCI, GMP and 5S

Job Authority:

Issue purchase requisition, reservation and gate pass.

Issue, monitoring and closing of job notification/work order.

Fully in-charge substation HT/LT equipment as well as control system and instrumentation.

Job Qualification:

Chargeman HT (33 kV/11 kV) certificate with relevant experience in a chemical process factory.

Good computer knowledge and able to work independently.

Familiar with SAP; PLC and instrumentation.
