Job summary
EAST ASIA PALM PRODUCTS SDN BHD is seeking a Senior Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical) to lead design, development and optimisation of systems in Kuching Division, Sarawak. This full-time role focuses on reliability, efficiency and safety of engineering infrastructure across operations.
The candidate will provide technical leadership, oversee installation, commissioning and testing, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in mechanical and electrical engineering roles
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent is advantageous
- Experience in palm oil, manufacturing or chemical processing industries is preferred
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and optimise mechanical and electrical systems for manufacturing processes and facility operations
- Oversee installation, commissioning and testing of mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance planning for mechanical and electrical systems
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors and external specialists for project delivery
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of installations to maintain safety and standards

About the role
EAST ASIA PALM PRODUCTS SDN BHD is seeking a Senior Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical) to join our engineering team in the Kuching Division, Sarawak. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in the design, development, and optimisation of mechanical and electrical systems across our operations. As a Senior Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and expertise to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our engineering infrastructure. This role is essential to supporting our manufacturing and operational objectives whilst maintaining the highest standards of engineering excellence.
- Design, develop and optimise mechanical and electrical systems for manufacturing processes and facility operations
- Conduct comprehensive technical assessments and feasibility studies for equipment upgrades and system improvements
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation in accordance with industry standards
- Oversee installation, commissioning and testing of mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff within the department
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance planning for mechanical and electrical systems
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations, environmental standards and company policies
- Liaise with equipment suppliers, contractors and external technical specialists on project delivery
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of mechanical and electrical installations to maintain safety and operational standards
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in mechanical and electrical engineering roles
- Proven expertise in designing and maintaining mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, motors and industrial machinery
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, power distribution and switchgear
- Proficiency with CAD software and engineering design tools
- Competency in interpreting electrical schematics, technical drawings and mechanical blueprints
- Experience in project management and coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex technical challenges
- Strong communication abilities and the capacity to effectively collaborate with operational and management teams
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards, building codes and industry regulations
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent qualification is advantageous
- Experience in the palm oil, manufacturing or chemical processing industries is preferred
