Talent Craft Consultancy is seeking a senior business development professional to drive growth in Klang Valley for logistics and 3PL services. You will map target accounts, generate pipeline, and lead end-to-end sales from discovery to close.
The role requires 5+ years in BD/sales with trucking/logistics experience in Malaysia, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to travel extensively. A competitive base salary with incentives is offered.
Build and own the Klang Valley target account map: identify, prioritise and qualify customers across FMCG, building materials, chemicals, agri-commodities, retail distribution and 3PL / freight forwarding.
Generate pipeline through direct prospecting, industry networks, associations, trade events, referrals and existing group relationships.
Lead the full sales cycle end to end — first contact, needs discovery, site and route studies, costing collaboration, proposal, presentation, negotiation and close.
Respond to RFQs, RFPs and tenders: coordinate internal inputs, construct competitive submissions, and manage clarification and BAFO rounds through to award.
Achieve agreed annual targets for new revenue, number of new customers, share of account for existing clients, and gross margin contribution.
Map the decision architecture within each target and existing account and deliberately build multi-threaded relationships so that no account rests on a single contact.
Conduct structured business reviews with performance data and use them to defend rates and expand scope.
Grow share of wallet in existing accounts through new lanes, additional SKUs, seasonal capacity, dedicated fleet arrangements and value-added services.
Prepare rate proposals in collaboration with operations and finance, grounded in true cost-to-serve.
Review, negotiate and structure transportation agreements — scope, service levels, liability caps, insurance, indemnity, payment terms, rate review triggers, termination and exclusivity clauses.
Minimum 5 years in business development, sales or key account management, of which at least 2 years in land transport, logistics, 3PL, freight forwarding or supply chain services in Malaysia.
Demonstrable track record of opening new accounts from a cold start — not solely inheriting or servicing an existing book.
Proven experience selling into complex B2B organisations with multiple stakeholders and formal procurement processes.
Experience negotiating and closing contracted transport agreements, including tender participation.
Strong commercial numeracy — able to read a cost-per-trip model, understand utilisation, backhaul economics and margin, and hold a rate under pressure.
Meticulous and disciplined in follow-through: documentation, quotation accuracy, contract detail, CRM discipline and post-sale handover.
Confident, credible presence with senior stakeholders; able to present and negotiate in a boardroom and walk a warehouse floor on the same day.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Marketing or a related discipline — or equivalent depth of industry experience with a demonstrable results record.
Professional fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and spoken).
Valid driving licence and willingness to travel extensively, including to the East Coast.
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, plus a performance incentive scheme tied to revenue, margin and collection.
Car allowance, mobile and travel expenses, EPF / SOCSO / EIS, medical coverage and annual leave per company policy.
The operational backing of an established East Coast carrier with owned fleet and a group balance sheet that can support fleet investment behind won business.
Long-term scope to build and lead the Klang Valley commercial organisation.
