Job summary

Carousell Group is seeking an experienced software engineering leader in Malaysia to drive technical design and the development of scalable, production‑grade applications. You will steer architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and champion AI‑first practices and agentic workflows across teams.

The role requires strong fundamentals in modern programming, API design, and cloud‑based systems, with a focus on delivering reliable software at scale in a fast‑paced, product‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of software design principles, SOLID principles, design patterns, and clean architecture.
• Strong programming fundamentals and experience with at least one modern programming language.
• Experience designing and building scalable, distributed, and production‑grade applications.
• Strong understanding of API design, system integration, testing, CI/CD, and cloud‑based systems.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence engineering practices across a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and implementation of scalable, maintainable software systems.
• Apply software design principles and patterns to engineering solutions.
• Review architecture, designs, and code for quality, security, and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers to grow technical capabilities and engineering maturity.
