The Senior Executive / Accounts Assistant Manager supports the Finance Controller in managing the Company’s day-to-day accounting operations. The role is responsible for handling and reviewing accounting activities, including Accounts Payable, account reconciliations, month-end closing, financial schedules, and other accounting matters.
The position will also provide guidance to junior accounting staff, monitor the accuracy and timeliness of accounting transactions, and assist the Finance Controller in ensuring proper financial controls and compliance with Company policies and accounting requirements.
The role is hands-on and requires a good understanding of full-set accounting. Experience in SAP or other ERP/accounting systems will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle and review daily accounting activities, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), general ledger, and other accounting functions as assigned.
- Verify and review supplier invoices and supporting documents, including purchase orders and delivery orders, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and review supplier payments in accordance with the Company’s payment schedule and procedures.
- Perform supplier statement reconciliation and follow up on discrepancies or outstanding issues.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations and supporting schedules for month-end closing.
- Assist the Finance Controller in month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Assist in preparing monthly management reports, financial schedules, and other accounting reports as required.
- Monitor outstanding receivables, payables, and other accounting balances and ensure timely follow-up.
- Ensure accounting transactions are accurately and timely recorded in the accounting system / SAP.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and supporting documents.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, banks, auditors, tax agents, and internal departments on accounting matters when required.
- Assist in audit, tax, and other statutory requirements by preparing relevant schedules and supporting documents.
- Ensure compliance with the Company’s accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and applicable accounting requirements.
- Identify accounting discrepancies or process issues and assist in implementing appropriate improvements.
- Provide guidance and support to Accounts Executives, interns, and other junior accounting staff where applicable.
- Support the Finance Controller in other accounting and finance-related matters as assigned.
- Carry out additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Finance Controller or Management from time to time.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification or partial qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience in accounting.
- Strong hands-on experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and general accounting functions.
- Exposure to full-set accounts is preferred.
- Experience in month-end closing, account reconciliation, and preparation of financial schedules.
- Experience in SAP or other ERP/accounting systems will be an added advantage.
- Good understanding of accounting principles, practices, and internal controls.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Responsible, organized, and able to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to guide and support junior accounting staff.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willing to work in Port Klang, Selangor.
