Job summary

Chuan Ann Realty Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the finance team in Tawau, Sabah. You will manage comprehensive accounting activities, ensure accurate reporting, and support strategic decision-making with timely financial information.

The role requires a professional accounting qualification and at least five years of post-qualification experience. You will lead processes, supervise junior staff, and liaise with tax authorities, auditors, and management.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification such as a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• Professional membership or candidacy with bodies such as the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), or equivalent recognised qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience in accounting roles, preferably in a corporate or real estate environment
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and systems
• Solid understanding of Malaysian tax regulations, company law, and financial reporting standards
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong communication abilities and capability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Experience in supervising or mentoring junior staff is highly desirable
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office applications

About the role

Chuan Ann Realty Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our accounting department on a full-time basis in Tawau, Sabah. This is a key position within our finance function, responsible for managing a broad range of accounting activities and providing strategic financial support to the organisation. You will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust internal controls, and supporting management decision-making through timely and reliable financial information.

What you'll be doing

Preparing and reviewing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in accordance with Malaysian Accounting Standards (MAS) and relevant regulatory requirements

Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment authorisation, and collection activities

Overseeing the general ledger and ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified

Conducting reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and investigating variances to ensure accuracy

Supporting the audit process by preparing documentation and responding to audit queries from external auditors

Assisting with the preparation of management accounts and financial reports for internal stakeholders

Implementing and monitoring internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations

Supervising junior accounting staff and providing guidance on accounting procedures and best practices

Liaising with the tax department and external advisors on tax-related matters and compliance issues

Contributing to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems within the finance department

What we're looking for
