Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control access to the pre-school premises, ensuring only authorised individuals enter.
• Verify the identity and purpose of visitors, contractors, vendors and service providers.
• Ensure visitors follow the school's visitor registration and access procedures.
• Monitor entry/exit points, gates, doors and other restricted areas.
• Ensure gates and access points are secured during operating hours and after school hours.
• Conduct regular patrols of classrooms, playgrounds, parking areas and corridors.
• Ensure children are released only to authorised parents or guardians.
• Report suspicious behaviour or safeguarding concerns to school management.
• Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, and safety-related situations.
• Maintain a professional, courteous and approachable manner with children, parents, staff and visitors.

Job description

This is a security position at a pre-school, responsible for monitoring and controlling access to the premises, ensuring the safety and security of children, staff and visitors. You will maintain vigilance over entry and exit points, conduct regular patrols, monitor security systems, and respond to emergencies while upholding the school's child protection and safeguarding policies.

Key responsibilities

Monitor and control access to the pre-school premises, ensuring only authorised individuals are permitted to enter

Verify the identity and purpose of visitors, contractors, vendors and service providers before granting access

Ensure all visitors comply with the school's visitor registration and access procedures

Monitor entry and exit points, gates, doors and other restricted areas

Ensure gates and access points are properly secured during operating hours and after school hours

Conduct regular patrols of the premises, including classrooms, playgrounds, parking areas, corridors and other designated areas

Ensure that children are released only to authorised parents, guardians or persons approved by the school

Immediately report any suspicious behaviour, unauthorised access or potential safeguarding concern to the relevant school management

Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, accidents, fire alarms, medical emergencies and other safety-related situations

Maintain a professional, courteous and approachable manner when dealing with children, parents, staff and visitors

About you

Previous experience in security, school, pre-school, childcare, hospitality, residential security or a similar environment is preferred

Ability to remain alert and attentive at all times while on duty

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information obtained during the course of work

Compliance with all school policies, procedures, safety requirements and applicable security regulations
