Job summary

Subang Jaya Medical Centre invites applications for a Scrub Staff Nurse / Perioperative Educator in the Operating Theatre. The role involves assisting in patient care plans, acting as scrub nurse, and supporting surgeons and anesthetists during procedures.

The candidate should hold a Diploma/ Degree in Nursing with APC, plus a Post-Basic certificate in Perioperative Nursing and ideally 2 years of OT experience. Proficiency in English is required.

Qualifications

• Post-basic perioperative cert preferred.
• Good command of written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Assist in total care plan for patients in the Operating Theatre.
• Function as scrub nurse to ensure smooth, safe surgical procedures.
• Assist anesthetist/surgeons during operations (minor and major).
• Administer medications accurately and timely in OT.
• Check and receive patient, ensure consent and labs before holding bay.
• Order, administer, and record drugs; monitor GA trolley.
• Observe infection control and provide supervisory support.
• Orient new nursing staff and train students in preoperative care.
• Provide basic nursing care and support to patients and families.
• Adhere to policies and procedures to meet organizational needs.

Scrub / Staff Nurse / Perioperative Educator , Operating Theatre

Assist in the total care plan for the patients in the Operating Theatre (OT) and ensure equipment is in good working orderbefore surgery.

Assumes the responsibilities of a scrub nurse to ensure that surgical procedures will proceed smoothly and safely.

Assists anesthetist/ surgeons during operation for both minor and major surgery.

Administers medication accurately and timelyunder sound working knowledge of legislation and pharmacology.

Check and receive a patient from unit staff for surgery and ensure consent and blood investigationsare ordered and results available before receiving the patient to holding bay.

Orders, administers, records usage of drugs and checks GAtrolley at every shift to ensure all drugs and equipment are in place.

Observe infection Control practices & provides supervisory support within the assigned area.

Assists with the orientation of newly appointed nursing staffand participatesin the training of students and junior staff for preoperative care.

Provide basic nursing care and support to patients and family members in a quiet and calm environment.

Adheres to set policies and procedures to meet organizational needs.

JOB REQUIREMENT

Minimum Diploma/ Degree in Nursing with valid nursing Annual Practicing Certificate

Possess Post-Basic certificate in Perioperative Nursing & minimum of 2years experiencein OT is an added advantage
