Qualifications

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Operating Theatre (OT) Nurse. This is a full-time position based in Ipoh, Perak, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical facilities and providing exceptional patient care. As an OT Nurse, you will be at the heart of our surgical services, maintaining the highest standards of infection control, patient safety and professional excellence. This role is essential to our mission of delivering outstanding surgical outcomes and patient experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and maintaining operating theatre environments, ensuring all equipment is sterile, functional and ready for surgical procedures
• Assisting surgical teams during operative procedures by providing instruments, equipment and supplies in a timely and efficient manner
• Monitoring patient vital signs and maintaining accurate records throughout surgical procedures
• Ensuring strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to minimise surgical site infections
• Providing compassionate pre-operative and post-operative care to patients, including education and emotional support
• Managing theatre stocks, equipment inventory and ordering supplies as required
• Collaborating effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal surgical outcomes
• Maintaining comprehensive and accurate patient documentation and surgical records
• Responding promptly to emergency situations and assisting with crisis management when required
• Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and maintaining professional development through ongoing training

What we’re looking for

• A recognised nursing qualification (RN/BSc Nursing or equivalent) with current registration with the relevant nursing regulatory body
• Minimum of 2-3 years' experience working in an operating theatre environment
• In-depth knowledge of surgical procedures, anaesthesia, and perioperative care protocols
• Strong understanding of aseptic techniques, infection control and sterilisation procedures
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
• Physical capability to stand for extended periods and handle manual tasks safely
• Current knowledge of Advanced Life Support (ALS) or similar resuscitation certification is preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, confidentiality and professional ethics
• Willingness to undertake further training and professional development as required
