Job summary

IHG Hotels & Resorts in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Senior Sales Executive to drive direct hotel room sales, build relationships with local companies, and promote group and convention business.

You will review daily business levels, implement tactical sales plans, and coordinate with hotel departments to deliver services. Strong knowledge of local market, English/Malay proficiency, and supervisory experience are required. This role may involve travel to conventions and trade shows as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education qualification.
  • Two years of experience in a hospitality or hotel sales setting with direct supervisory experience over a sales team, or an equivalent combination of work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of local businesses and business trends required.
  • Must speak local language(s).
  • Other languages preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sell hotel room nights through direct client contact; maintain visibility for the hotel in major market areas through direct sales solicitation; telephone contacts and written communication.
  • Review daily business levels, anticipate critical situations, and plan effective solutions in conjunction with your manager.
  • Implement tactical sales plans to achieve greater profitability through revenue growth and brand image enhancement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local company officials and representatives, attend conventions and trade shows to promote new business.
  • Identify new business opportunities and expand market share.
  • Co-operate across departments to deliver positive results and maintain team spirit.
  • Participate in hotel meetings and interact with staff to ensure effective communication.
  • Provide guests with information on loyalty programmes, attractions, restaurants, and hotel facilities.
  • Develop relationships with key clients to produce group/convention business including room sales, F&B, and catering services.
  • Schedule conventions and activities and coordinate with hotel departments to fulfil services.
  • Identify operational problems impacting marketing activities and work with departments to resolve them.
  • Promote awareness and reputation of the hotel and brand locally.
  • Produce monthly reports and sales forecasts to monitor market trends and revenue performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and outside contacts in order to produce group and/or convention business, to include room sales, food & beverage sales, and catering/banquet services.
  • Schedule conventions and/or business group activities at the hotel and coordinate with other hotel-level departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients.
  • Identify operational problems that reduce the effectiveness of marketing activities and overall hotel sales performance and work with appropriate department on solutions.
  • Develop awareness and reputation of the hotel and the brand in the local community.
  • Produce monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyze current/potential market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share, monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
