Job summary

Sunway Hotel Big Box in Malaysia is seeking a senior Sales and Business Development leader to craft and drive annual plans aligned with revenue objectives. You will coach the sales team, monitor market trends, and identify opportunities across corporate, government, MICE, leisure, and travel trade segments.

You will negotiate contracts, expand market penetration, and nurture strategic partnerships while working closely with Revenue Management to optimize pricing and occupancy.

  • Develop and execute annual sales and business development plans aligned with revenue objectives.
  • Lead, coach, and motivate the Sales team to achieve KPIs.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer insights to identify opportunities.
  • Establish sales goals, action plans, and performance metrics to drive revenue growth.
  • Ensure effective sales planning, account management, and pipeline development.
  • Identify and secure new business across corporate, government, MICE, leisure, wholesale and travel trade.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with corporations, travel agencies, DMCs and clients.
  • Lead contract negotiations and commercial discussions to secure profitable business.
  • Expand market penetration through proactive prospecting and account acquisition.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key accounts to maximize repeat business.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management to optimize pricing and occupancy.
  • Monitor sales performance against budget and prepare forecasts and reports.
  • Drive revenue across guestrooms, meetings, events, catering and other streams.
  • Represent the hotel at trade exhibitions and industry events.
  • Support digital marketing initiatives by identifying sales opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards and departmental policies.
  • Prepare and manage the departmental sales budget and keep records in CRM.

2. Business Development

Identify and secure new business opportunities across corporate, government, MICE, leisure, wholesale, travel trade, and other key market segments.


Develop strategic partnerships with corporations, travel agencies, event organizers, destination management companies (DMCs), and key industry stakeholders.


Conduct sales calls, presentations, networking events, and client visits to generate new business.


Lead contract negotiations and commercial discussions to secure profitable business.


Expand market penetration through proactive prospecting and account acquisition.


3. Client Relationship Management

Build and maintain long‑term relationships with key accounts to maximize repeat business.


Ensure excellent customer service throughout the sales cycle, from enquiry to post‑event follow‑up.


Conduct hotel site inspections and familiarization visits for prospective clients.


Resolve client concerns promptly while maintaining strong customer satisfaction and loyalty.


Develop strategic account plans for major clients and monitor account performance.


Collaborate closely with the Revenue Management team to optimize pricing strategies and maximize RevPAR, ADR, and occupancy.


Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance against budget.


Analyse market intelligence, business pace, production reports, and competitor data to identify revenue opportunities.


Prepare accurate sales forecasts, business reports, and market analysis for senior management.


Drive revenue across guestrooms, meetings, events, catering, and other hotel revenue streams.


5. Marketing & Brand Promotion

Partner with the Marketing and Communications team to develop promotional campaigns and sales initiatives.


Represent the hotel at trade exhibitions, industry events, networking sessions, and sales missions.


Support digital marketing initiatives by identifying sales opportunities and campaign effectiveness.


Enhance brand awareness through strategic partnerships and industry engagement.


Contribute to sales collateral, presentations, and promotional materials.


Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain a high‑performing sales team.


Conduct regular coaching sessions, performance reviews, and training programmes.


Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.


Encourage collaboration between Sales, Marketing, Revenue, Front Office, Events, and other operational departments.


Ensure compliance with hotel policies, brand standards, and ethical business practices.


Prepare and manage the departmental sales budget.


Monitor sales expenses to ensure cost efficiency while achieving revenue objectives.


Ensure timely completion of sales reports, contracts, proposals, and administrative documentation.


Maintain accurate records within the hotel's CRM and sales management systems.


Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning meetings.


8. Other Duties

Perform any additional duties assigned by the DOS & General Manager.


Support hotel initiatives, special projects, and corporate programmes as required.


Maintain professional knowledge through continuous learning and participation in industry developments.
