Job summary

Binaan Desjaya Sdn. Bhd. in Sabah, West Coast Division seeks a Registered Safety & Health Officer to oversee health, safety and welfare on construction projects.

You will ensure compliance, lead incident investigations, and implement emergency response plans across sites. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree, has at least 5 years in construction, and is familiar with industry HSE regulations and CIDB/ISO standards.

Qualifications

• Must be a registered Safety & Health Officer with the Department of Occupational Safety & Health with a valid Green Book.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of working experience in Construction industry, preferably in infrastructure and road works.
• Familiarity with Industry Standards and relevant HSE regulations and requirements.
• Familiarity with behavioural based safety systems, risk assessment, job safety analysis methods, emergency response and crisis management procedures.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Health & Safety policies and ensure regular reviews and updates.
• Ensure statutory obligations on health, safety and welfare on project sites including training and reporting.
• Lead continuous improvement of processes to reduce health, safety and environmental incidents.
• Handle reporting and investigation of project-related incidents.
• Prepare project-specific emergency response and preparedness plans.
• Identify hazards and risks through regular site inspections.
• Keep up to date with health, safety and welfare legislation and communicate activities.
• Participate in monthly safety meetings.

Job description

Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.

Ensure all project sites meet its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare, including statutory training and reporting.

Leads and facilitates the process of continuous improvement of the processes and methods to reduce health, safety and environmental incidents.

Handling the reporting and investigation of project related incidents.

Compiling project specific emergency response and preparedness plans.

Identification of the hazards and risks relevant to the construction project through regular coordinated site inspections.

Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant health and safety activities.

Participate in monthly meetings when required to report on relevant health & safety matters.

Requirements:

Must be a registered Safety & Health Officer with the Department of Occupational Safety & Health with a valid Green Book.

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.

At least 5 years of working experience in Construction industry, preferably in infrastructure and road works.

Familiarity of Industry Standards and relevant industry HSE regulations and requirements.

Familiarity with behavioural based safety systems, risk assessment, job safety analysis methods, emergency response and crisis management procedures.

Excellent skills in problem solving, team building, ingenuity and initiative are required to coordinate problem resolution and to execute schedule requirements within a team environment.
