Job summary

TECHMAN ELECTRONICS (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. in Simpang Ampat, Penang is seeking a Robotics & AOI Engineer to develop, implement and maintain robotic systems and AOI equipment across manufacturing operations.

You will design and program automated solutions, optimise workflows, and ensure quality through rigorous testing and documentation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience working with industrial robotics and/or AOI systems.
• Strong knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation software.
• Experience with robotic programming languages such as ABB, FANUC, KUKA, or equivalent systems.
• Proficiency in electrical circuit design and analysis.
• Solid understanding of industrial electronics, sensors, and vision systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of quality control standards and manufacturing best practices.
• Preferred: experience with CAD software, process optimisation, or Industry 4.0 technologies.
• Preferred: certification in robotics programming or automation engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement robotic automation solutions for manufacturing and assembly processes
• Configure, programme and troubleshoot AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systems to ensure accurate defect detection and quality control
• Collaborate with production teams to identify automation opportunities and optimise manufacturing workflows
• Conduct regular maintenance and preventive servicing of robotic systems and AOI equipment
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including system schematics, operating manuals, and troubleshooting guides
• Perform quality assurance testing and validation of automated systems prior to full-scale deployment
• Analyse production data and system performance metrics to identify areas for process improvement
• Provide technical support and training to production operators and maintenance personnel
• Work with vendors and suppliers to evaluate and procure appropriate automation equipment and components
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in all robotic and automated systems

About the role

We are seeking a talented Robotics & AOI Engineer to join TECHMAN ELECTRONICS (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. in Simpang Ampat, Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in developing, implementing, and maintaining robotic systems and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment within our manufacturing operations.
