Job summary

Arup is seeking a highly experienced Resident Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical) to lead site supervision and coordinate multidisciplinary teams on complex projects. You will work with clients, contractors and consultants to ensure safety, efficiency and the highest quality standards throughout construction, testing and handover.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, professional registration with BEM is desirable, and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in

Resident Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical)

We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical) to lead site supervision works and coordinate multidisciplinary teams. You will work closely with clients, contractors, and consultants to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality.

The Opportunity

Lead the supervision and delivery of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards

Coordinate and oversee site supervision activities across M&E works, Civil & Structural (C&S) Inspector of Works activities, and other specialist services to support integrated project delivery

Collaborate with clients, contractors, authorities, and multidisciplinary teams, including Audio Visual, Acoustics, Theatre, Lighting, and Geotechnical specialists, to achieve successful project outcomes

Provide technical leadership throughout construction, testing, commissioning, and project handover, while ensuring compliance with design, contractual, and regulatory requirements

Lead and develop site supervision teams, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing project environment

Is this role right for you?

A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field. Professional registration with BEM is desirable.

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in construction supervision or project delivery, with exposure to live refurbishment and occupied building environments preferred.

Strong technical knowledge of M&E systems and a good understanding of multidisciplinary construction interfaces, including Civil & Structural and specialist building services

The ability to build trusted relationships and work effectively with clients, contractors, authorities, and multidisciplinary teams

A collaborative leader with strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
