BD Agriculture (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Regional Product Support Engineer, Electronic to act as the regional technical expert for electronic components and controller systems. You will diagnose complex hardware, software, and integration issues and support commissioning, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
The role requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronics/automation/mechatronics with 5+ years of relevant experience.

1. Regional product and technical support
Act as the regional technical expert for Product Component Category 09 & 10 (Electronic Components, Computer and Controller.)
Provide technical support across the regional electronic product portfolio, including computer and controller systems, sensors and cameras, egg counters, measurement applications, power and energy systems, and related control and alarm devices.
Diagnose complex hardware, software, communication, configuration, and integration issues in cooperation with service and engineering teams.
Support commissioning, troubleshooting, upgrades, and lifecycle management of electronic products in the field.
Translate recurring field issues into clearly documented technical requirements and improvement proposals.
Deliver technical training to other relevant stakeholders if required.
2. Software, computer, controller, and electronic product expertise
Provide technical support to commissioning teams when they encounter issues during the application, configuration, commissioning, or troubleshooting of computer and controller systems, software and licences, sensors and cameras, egg counters, measurement applications, power and energy systems, alarm devices, and related electronic components.
Support commissioning teams in resolving technical issues related to the integration of electronic products with climate, feeding, ventilation, weighing, egg-counting, alarm, emergency-opening, and other farm-management systems.
Support to software and firmware validation, release testing, regression testing, licence verification, and field verification.
3. Cost reduction and alternative solutions
Lead and support cost-down initiatives for electronic systems, controllers, sensors, cables, interfaces, and related components.
Search and technically assess alternative electronics solutions from qualified suppliers outside the existing Big Dutchman product ecosystem.
Compare alternative solutions based on functionality, reliability, compatibility, cybersecurity considerations, supply security, serviceability, regulatory requirements, and total cost.
Support supplier evaluation, technical clarification, sample procurement, and implementation planning.
4. Testing, trials, and validation
Coordinate pilot installations and alternative-component trials with regional teams, farms, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Collect, analyse, and report test and trial results using objective technical and commercial criteria.
Verify the performance of alternative components under realistic farm conditions, including temperature, humidity, dust, vibration, electrical interference, and continuous operation.
Support controlled product releases and rollout plans following successful validation.
5. Cross-functional collaboration
Collaborate closely with the Global Electronics Team, R&D, product management, purchasing, quality, software engineering, project execution, technical service, and regional subsidiaries.
Coordinate calibration activities, technical alignment, and knowledge sharing with the Global Electronics Team.
Represent regional product-support requirements in global product and technology discussions.
Coordinate technical communication between Big Dutchman teams and external suppliers.
Participate in product reviews, design reviews, root-cause analyses, and continuous-improvement activities.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, automation, mechatronics.
5+ years of practical experience with industrial electronics, automation systems, embedded controls, agricultural technology, building automation, or comparable equipment.
Experience supporting controllers, PLCs, embedded systems, sensors, communication networks, or software-based control systems.
Demonstrated experience in testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, product validation, or field trials.
Experience with supplier evaluation, component qualification, product improvement, or cost-reduction projects is highly desirable.
Experience working in an international, cross-functional, or regional support environment is an advantage.
Strong understanding of electronic control systems, sensors, actuators, signal processing, wiring, power supplies, and industrial communication interfaces.
Practical knowledge of controller configuration, software/firmware behaviour, diagnostics, and data communication.
Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, product hierarchies, and system documentation.
Willingness to travel to farms and country offices for support, audits, and training.
