Job summary

GC PACKAGING SDN BHD in Malaysia seeks an Engineering Manager to lead R&D activities for plastic packaging, focusing on thermoforming and moulding.

You will design moulds/tools, oversee tooling development, coordinate CNC processes, and collaborate with production to transfer innovations to mass manufacturing, while driving quality and efficiency.

This role requires a degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, strong CAD CAM skills, CNC knowledge, and proven leadership in product development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Strong experience in plastic packaging / thermoforming industry.
• Proficiency in CAD CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, NX).
• Knowledge of CNC machining and tooling design.
• Experience in project management and product development lifecycle.
• Leadership and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage R&D activities related to plastic packaging, especially thermoforming and moulding.
• Design and develop moulds/tools based on customer specs and product requirements.
• Oversee tooling development: concept design, fabrication, testing and improvements.
• Coordinate CNC machining processes for mould manufacturing (milling, turning).
• Collaborate with designers and production to transfer from R&D to mass manufacturing.
• Conduct product development trials, troubleshooting and validation for quality and performance.
• Improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality through process optimization.
• Manage project timelines, costs and documentation for new product development.
• Lead, mentor and develop the R&D team.
