Job summary

Gigaspeed Technology Sdn Bhd in Kuching is seeking a Quantity Surveyor / Assistant Quantity Surveyor to handle take-off, BQ preparation, and cost estimates for tender support.

You will manage progress claims, valuations, VO evaluations, and assist in subcontractor procurement, with focus on accuracy and timely reporting. Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is required, along with MS Excel/Word and CAD tools.

Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Engineering, or Construction Management.
Practical experience in taking-off quantities, progress claims, VO evaluations, and cost reporting.

Responsibilities

Take-Offs and BQ preparation, measure quantities from drawings and assist in tender preparation, BQ and cost estimates.
Prepare, submit, and track monthly progress claims to main contractors/clients; verify work done on-site with Project Engineer for payments.
Identify and evaluate Variation Orders, site instruction impacts, and contractual claims (e.g., Extension of Time).
Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and sub-contractors; prepare comparison sheets and assist in contract awards.
Conduct joint site measurements and verifications with main contractors, resident engineers, or consultant representatives.
Prepare and track contractual letters, site notices, delivery orders, and as-built measurement records for verification.

Quantity Surveyor / Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Key Responsibilities:

Taking-Off & BQ preparation: Measure quantities from engineering/construction drawings and assist in preparing competitive tenders, Bills of Quantities (BQ), and cost estimates.

Progress Claims & Valuations: Prepare, submit, and track monthly progress claims to main contractors/clients; measure and verify work done on-site to certify subcontractor payment applications jointly done with Project Engineer

Variation Orders (VO) & Claims: Identify, compile, and evaluate Variation Orders, site instruction impacts, and contractual claims (e.g., Extension of Time / delay claims).

Subcontractor & Supplier Procurement: Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and specialist sub-contractors, prepare comparison sheets, and assist in contract awards.

Site Joint Measurement: Conduct joint site measurements and work verifications with main contractors, resident engineers, or consultant representatives.

Contract & Technical Documentation/Submissions: Prepare and track contractual letters, site notices, delivery orders, and as-built measurement records for verification.

Key Requirements:

Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Engineering, or Construction Management.

Practical experience in taking-off quantities, progress claims, VO evaluations, and cost reporting (infrastructure, civil, or M&E experience is an added advantage).

Proficient in written and spoken English & Bahasa Malaysia.

Computer Literacy: Proficient in MS Office (especially MS Excel and Word) and measurement/CAD software.

Mobility & Flexibility: Possess a valid driving license and own transport, willing to attend site joint measurements as required.
