Job summary

UMECH CONSTRUCTION SDN BHD invites a seasoned Quantity Surveyor to join our civil and structural engineering team in Selangor. You will manage pre and post tender activities, cost control, and contract administration across commercial and residential projects.

The ideal candidate holds a civil/construction-related degree with 5+ years of experience, proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and MS Project, and can liaise with clients and subcontractors to maintain cost effectiveness and timely handovers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or equivalent in Civil/Construction Management.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quantity surveying.
• Proficient with MS Office; AutoCAD and MS Project advantageous.
• Strong emphasis on cost control, pre/post contract knowledge, and integrity.
• Independent, committed, and able to coordinate with teams and clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead QS operations for projects and support tender processes.
• Prepare monthly progress claims and certificates for subcontractors.
• Handle site measurements, estimation, and material scheduling.
• Maintain quantity takeoffs and cost control; manage contractual issues.
• Attend meetings and coordinate with Clients, Consultants, and Subcontractors.
• Assist Project Manager/Director in resolving contractual disputes.
• Support management with additional tasks as required.

Job description

1. Responsible for QS operation of projects.

2. Involved in Pre and Post tenders.

3. Responsible for tender process including sourcing for subcontractors and supplies.

4. Prepare monthly progress claims for clients.

5. Prepare monthly certificates for sub-contractors.

6. Site measurements for work done on sites.

7. Estimation and calculation material for projects.

8. Quantity taking off and ensure quantity control in projects.

9. Attending meetings and coordinating effectively with Clients, Consultants, Construction Team and Subcontractors.

10. Perform estimation, claims cost control, and material scheduling.

11. To assist and liaise with the Project Manager and Project director to resolve any contractual disputes arising on projects.

12. To assist in any other task as and when required by The Management.

Requirements:

• 1. Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, professional Degree, Engineering (Civil), Quantity Survey, Building or Construction Management or Equivalent.
• 2. At least 5 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
• 3. Proficient in MS Office and knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Project will be an added advantage.
• 4. Motivated with a good working attitude.
• 5. To work independently with integrity and commitment to assigned duties.
• 6. Strong knowledge of Pre and Post contract works, cost control budget and contractual issues.
• 7. Preferable specializing in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
