Job summary

Qualifications

• Recognised Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent.
• Pro registration with AIQS/RICS or Malaysian bodies desirable.

• Knowledge of Malaysian contracts and procurement practices.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join PEMBINAAN TAJRI SDN BHD in Kelana Jaya, Selangor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in managing project costs, budgets, and financial control throughout the construction lifecycle. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing expert cost management and commercial advice that directly impacts the financial success and profitability of our construction projects. This position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team on diverse and challenging projects whilst contributing to the company's reputation for excellence in cost management and project delivery.

Key responsibilities

Preparing detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and project budgets based on specifications, drawings, and site conditions

Conducting thorough cost analysis and value engineering studies to optimise project expenditure and enhance profitability

Managing contract documentation, including tender preparation, contract administration, and variation order processing

Monitoring project expenditure and financial performance against approved budgets, preparing regular cost reports and forecasts

Liaising with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to clarify specifications and negotiate competitive pricing

Assessing and managing claims, variations, and changes to scope of work, ensuring appropriate commercial implications are evaluated

Conducting site inspections and measurements to verify work completed and ensure accurate quantity assessments

Maintaining comprehensive project records, documentation, and financial data to support audit trails and project reviews

Providing cost advice and recommendations to senior management and project stakeholders on financial matters

What we're looking for

A recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline from an accredited institution

Professional membership or registration with a relevant surveying body (such as AIQS, RICS, or equivalent Malaysian professional bodies) is highly desirable

Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry

Strong proficiency in cost estimation software, building information modelling (BIM) tools, and Microsoft Office applications

Comprehensive knowledge of Malaysian construction contracts, standard forms of contract, and procurement practices

Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst maintaining quality standards and meeting tight deadlines

Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders

Sound understanding of construction methodology, materials, and practical site practices

A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong commercial acumen and financial awareness
