Job summary

Qualifications

• We require a Diploma, Degree or Professional Qualification in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• 2–5 years post-qualification experience in quantity surveying in construction.
• Strong knowledge of costs, materials, labour rates and market trends.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software and MS Office.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the team at Yon Sang Builders Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Johor Bahru, Johor. As Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in managing project costs, budgets, and financial planning throughout the construction lifecycle. This position is integral to ensuring that our projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. You will be responsible for providing expert cost management advice and supporting the delivery of our strategic construction objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents for construction projects
• Managing project budgets and monitoring expenditure throughout the construction phase
• Conducting cost analysis and value engineering to identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality
• Liaising with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to negotiate prices and manage contracts
• Preparing and processing interim valuations and final accounts for payment certification
• Tracking variations and claims, and providing recommendations for cost management
• Maintaining accurate project records and financial documentation
• Providing cost and financial advice to superior and management
• Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and relevant regulations
• Supporting tender processes and project feasibility studies

What we're looking for

• Diploma, Degree or Professional Qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field
• Minimum 2-5 years of post-qualification experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry
• Strong knowledge of construction costs, materials, labour rates, and market trends
• Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
• Understanding of construction contracts, procurement procedures, and standard conditions of contract
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines
• Knowledge of Malaysian construction standards, regulations, and building codes
